I say Cags, Laka (Yes you :3), Arpy, Bunda, Deev if possible, Shine, that guy who made all those cool robot MOCs or whatever but I forgot to remember his name, ToM if possible, and...

I guess it could be considered elitist, but I really want good results in the polls. I'm planning on a big panel of judges with a lot of big names as possible. Prolly some of the smaller names, too.

I agree on that point. Most of the people on that list are incredibly renowned MOCists, which is all well and good until you realize that the Certavus contest isn't in BBC. It's not a MOC contest as much as a character contest-- you're essentially designing an actual BIONICLE character. And while complex, custom designs work on some of the designs (for instance, Bunda's entry), many entries are form-based rather than detail-based-- the textures and details of the individual parts are irrelevant compared to the overall shape of the MOC. Which is rarely what BIONICLE is about (Brutaka's perhaps the only humanoid set in BIONICLE that mastered this technique, successfully avoiding a mecha look that too many form-based MOCs have).

 

Several of the entries I personally voted for were simple. This does not mean they were Inika clones (or that an Inika clone is a simple design by definition-- some Inika-styled builds clearly OD'd on the armor). But they were not as immensely complex as, for instance, Kayru's entry-- the entries of my preference used armor pieces and styles as minimally as was possible to create a unique look distinct from other sets and characters.

 

I am not trying to say that all of the members that have been suggested so far would vote based on MOC complexity, quality and other characteristics not necessarily the goal of this contest. But I must state that the people who nominate such a sparse range of members for this contest may be biased towards such MOCs and MOCists in their choices (although I have to admit many are names that I would recommend myself, knowing them so well). Remember that no one person or group determines what BIONICLE should be-- BIONICLE is a franchise that appeals to various breeds of fans, and each fan has his or her own vision of BIONICLE's most important qualities in sets and story alike.
