I wouldn't call it dumb by a long shot. It's supposed to be a big fun movie about giant robots fighting giant sea monsters, but even then it has better characterization than a lot of other equally big movies.

I think it was a good movie like any other robot movie out there. It was very entertaining and all the graphics and visual effects are done just about right. I gave it 7/10.
