Gen VII: The end?

So I'm not a huge fan of videos that explain indepth lore or fan theories about pokemon, aka I never really watch them, however there is one video I watched recently that really intrigued me, and I would suggest watching should you like this type of stuff. It's really well done and really in depth. Also it's about an hour long, but well worth that hour of time.

Also fairly certain it's safe, I don't remember there being anything that could potentially have it unlinked here...

An hour is kinda long for a Pokemon theory.  Any chance you could summarize?

I mean I'm pretty sure I'm not going to believe it, but I get the feeling I should try to see the reasoning before I say that.

Pretty much it delves into alot of how in prior pokemon games Alchemy was a large influence, and how relying on common alchemical theories that pretty much Gen 7, with the likely Diamond and Pearl remakes will signify a restart to the pokemon games, so instead of just continueing into gen 8, it will restart.

You can't really provide a good summary for it, as there is a alot of minute details that back the theories presented. And I intially had the same mindset as you, that it was likely a crackpot theory, though alot of the evidence backed by real world theories makes sense and seems perfectly legitimate.

I really do suggest watching it if you get some spare time. It's well worth it. And I never say this about an hour+ long videos.

It's just, I've tried finding short summaries of this type of theory before, and what little I can find that isn't in a long video is just pointing to references to previous Generations, and I don't see how that possibly leads to assuming there's going to be a reboot...and I'm not even sure what "reboot" would mean in this context.

I mean, Pokemon has been remaking previous games since Gen III, so doing new Kanto remakes wouldn't be that big a deal. (Would be neat, but not that huge.) "Reboot" just sounds so weird in this context because Pokemon games aren't really that connected to each other, just some nods (outside of obvious exceptions like Johto games and B2W2).  If we assume they're all in one timeline then maybe expecting a "reboot" means we're expecting a new timeline to begin, but ORAS already implied that in Delta Episode, so...how is that a theory going forward?

I don't know, I might skim it later.  What I've been able to gather thus far just doesn't make any sense to me.

As I said, alot of what evidence is used in this video relies on Alchemical theories. The theory isn't so much relying on evidence in prior games, but instead using instances of references to Alchemy and real world religions in prior games, and even the TCG, to explain how they came to their conclusion, and how events in the games do align with "Biblical and Alchemical" events, and how if natural order is followed a Full on reboot would make sense.

Again, I'm not going to be able to convince you, as my attempts at rewording what their theories is means little to nothing without the evidence they provide to back their theories. All I can say is that isn't like other fan theories, as the theory isn't based solely in what is provided by the games, but based moreso in what the games allude to, and real world references within the games or the design choices of the games.

I hate watching hour long videos, and I had this bookmarked for about a week before I actually watched it myself... and I am glad I did.

If you want to see just one small snippet of a theory that is covered in the video and used to help back the overall theory, I'd suggest watching this three minute video. Or perhaps this one, which is twenty minutes long, but better shows the amount of research and "Evidence" this person puts into their theories. Hopefully these will provide enough to at least get you interested, instead of quick to dismiss.

I watched about half of it and I'm still not convinced.  It seems to make a lot of assumptions and merge together several mythic concepts for no particular reason other than it achieves the end they want.  Referencing a bunch of mythologies doesn't mean the end either--Final Fantasy has referenced basically every mythos and it's still around.  Plus, it still doesn't specify what they mean by "reboot", so I still don't understand what it is they're talking about.

And I mean, doesn't every Generation of Pokemon have a bunch of people saying it'll be the last one?  It seems like this is just more of that.

Well that is typically what a theory is, assumptions. However the mythic concepts are merged because pokemon has merged several different religions and mythologies into it's games, and unlike final fantasy all these mergings of Religions and Mythologies are taking place in the same world, the same reality, the same dimension.

And your point with Final Fantasy doesn't make sense... Each game in Final Fantasy Core series is generally accepted to be it's own separate world, it's own dimension, minus those who make connections between 7 and 10 being at least in the same dimension. With pokemon however it is generally accepted that each game is part of the same world, as each region is part of their "Earth" Though Oras proved that there can be separate realities as it directly references the old Sapphire and Ruby games, which would mean that those games are not technically part of the same reality anymore.

But ultimately dude, I'm not here to convince you. It's evident that you already had your mind made up before you even watched the video. I luckily don't pay attention to theory videos for pokemon at least so my mind wasn't already influenced/made up before watching it. However I'm not going to answer your question about what they mean by a reboot, because that is answered towards the end of the video. And once again, I would do a poor job of explaining it, and you would likely just find any loophole or flaw in my explanation of it.
