So about TBRPGs

I've considered joining some TBRPGs on this site. I like role-playing in general, but I've always had trouble with organized games, so I'm just going to throw out some stupid questions for the better RPers here.

What exactly is expected of a player in an average TBRPG? Does everyone play to "win", or just push a story along? How devoted do I have to be to playing?

Mmmm yeah I'm clueless.

To be able to read and write.

Most of them are not write to win. You can help move the story along but you don't have to. You can write as a minor character if you want to.

Just enough to be able to pay attention to your characters and maybe some important plot points.

Honestly the "play to win" mentality drove me out of the BZPRPG twice. The first time as a player and the second time as a moderator. It could have changed since then. It could not have. Proceed at your own discretion.

I'm more interested in COTRPGs than the Bionicle ones honestly. :b

But I'm glad they're not typically "play to win", because I wouldn't like that objective. Assume a role, interact with other characters, keep the game moving forward. I guess that's how it works.

My main issue is actually having time to participate. I'm always busy (or preoccupied, there's a fine line between the two), so I worry about not being available enough to be a good player.
