Secret Santa Part 2

Posted by ChocolateFrogs , Dec 17 2006 · 157 views
My Life Is Awesome
So tonight my youth group got together for a christmas dinner. We also did a "White Elephant" gift exchange. (see below) I brought home a bag of very nice chocolates. The trouffel balls with the soft chocolate in the middle. Got a dozen of those.

I gave six tic-tac cases. Wrapped up long-ways.

Anyway, the rules for white elephant if you havn't played before:
1 bring unmarked, wrapped gift in set price range (for this, $5)
2 everyone puts gifts in middle
3 draw numbers
4 number 1 goes first, and picks a gift. Unwraps it and shows everyone
5 number 2 can either steal that gift or unwrap another
6 continue, stealing or unwraping another gift. If "number 2" (or three, etc) steals, then that person stolen from can steal another gift or unwrap another
7 once everyone has a gift, then number 1 gets to steal anything*
* after 3 steals, that gift is "locked" and can't be stolen again.

So, remember that MOC I made and was all excited about?
Here it is!
IPB Image

Pic 2
He seemed to have had a very nice time with Vezok and Reidak (although this doesn't seem to be possible)

I basically replaced some rahkshi parts to make a stronger looking rahkshi, but kept with the feel (like body, and back)
Should I post this in the BBC forum, or is this too basic?

A Talkback-- Piraka Fusion Instructions

Posted by ChocolateFrogs , Dec 15 2006 · 492 views
Hey! I made instrucions for my Piraka Fusion MOC.
Folder Here
I would specifically suggest:
The Hand
The Staff

And since it seems that the Talkback Topic isn't properly linked at the time, go ahead and use this to give any comments you might have until staff does something about the link. (But, staff, please do fix it, and don't rely on this) (hey, Omi, how about you start one?)

I would also like this to be the place for discussion for my MOC in general.

(The News Article)

Thanx, and enjoy!

It'd be cool if it was a set, along with Krakua.

Major sets used were Keetongu, and Thok (althought Vezok might work)
You'll also need some keetorange joints, hordika armor, and 6 hordika knecks.
The piece pointed to for the tail is a technic watch piece. (I wanted to use it in a MOC)
I think everything else is pretty much can be seen from pix and is basic enough I don't need to expand on it.
On note of the tail-joint-breaking problem: I have used this style of connecting before and have only had one or two joints break, and then they are still usable. Don't be too rough, and ease the rod in. (some people also don't like the tail, so of course you don't have to put it on, but then he may have trouble standing up)

Secret Santa!

Posted by ChocolateFrogs , Dec 15 2006 · 129 views
So my history class did a secret santa for the past two weeks, and the person who had me was awesome! Aside from three whole candy bars for last week's small gift, this week I got the Exo-Force Grand Titan and Stealth Hunter!

Well, I already had Stealth Hunter, so I started building Grand Titan in class! (Keep in mind I'm 16, and a Junior) It was cool for my LEGO fanness to be revealed to the whole class, as everyone there is just like, "wow, he's actually building it" But they were supportive, saying things like "He'll have that done it five minutes" and just shouting across the room "how's it going, Ben?" and I'd give a thumbs up and keep looking for the next piece. (It was a little hard, because I had a small building area, pieces in bags, and a slanted desk)

Well, anyway, here is Grand Titan at home on my dresser (as seen in my Giant Zamor blog, check it out)

I hope to exchange Stealth Hunter for Takeshi's next battle maching early next year. But I don't have a receit, so should I return it now or wait a month? (serously, I would like some advice)

Other Secret Santa gifts (to others) were SpaceBalls and fancy Chocolate.

Need Volunteers

Posted by ChocolateFrogs , Dec 14 2006 · 135 views
I need a volunteer. A couple perhaps, and someone that knows how and wants to send an email to BZPower news.

And perhaps a non staff member, just so some regular members can get some credit.

I can't tell you what it is all about, but I mentioned news and this is in my Lego category, so...

-CF patriot.gif

Thanx to all who volunteered! (Sorry, Arpy, but you jumped on the bandwagon a little too late, but thanx anyway)

What I wanted was someone to report that I had uploaded Piraka Fusion instructions (because I thought if I did, the staff would want me to just make a topic)

Well, what are you waiting for, Check it out here!

Brickworld 2007

Posted by ChocolateFrogs , Dec 07 2006 · 153 views
So I got this in my email today:
Dear fellow AFOLs,

BrickJournal™, BrickStructures™, Team Hassenplug, Team Possible, Team B-squared and Fun Time Technologies have joined forces and are pleased to announce Brickworld ‘07 to be held in Chicago. Brickworld™ is a chance to showcase your creations right here in the Central Midwest. Chicago being the third largest city in the U.S. naturally has a great deal to offer - including 3 Lego outlets. We are strategically placing the Brickworld location in the suburb of Wheeling, IL just 30 minutes northwest of downtown Chicago. Wheeling is conveniently located close to the expressway servicing O’hare Airport and is also half way between the 2 Lego outlets at Woodfield Mall and Northbrook Mall, each 15 minutes away. The 3rd Lego store is located downtown Chicago 30 minutes away.

The event will be held at the brand new 5 star Westin Hotel & Convention Center. The main ballroom offers 15,000 sq/ft and an additional 15,000 sq/ft around the ballrooms peripheral for small group sessions, competitions, demonstrations, The Great Build (more about that later), marketplace, etc.

BrickWorld ‘07 will be held from June 21st - 24th 2007. We are excited to bring this show to the public during a time of year when school is out and sunshine & good weather are in. The convention area will be open for setup the afternoon of June 21st for early birds. We will have a closed AFOL exhibitor day on Friday and public exhibition on Saturday, June 23rd and Sunday, June 24th. This June weekend is reserved at the site for the next 3 years, reinforcing this event as the one event not to miss!

BrickWorld attendees will be a part of a well organized, professionally run event that will draw the public from the greater Chicago area and provide them a show like they have never seen before. To do this, BrickWorld needs you!!

The floor organization of BrickWorld will be designed to accommodate large collaborative displays, such as the Great Ball Contraption, Moon Base, Castle and Train Layout, in the center of smaller, individual displays where each AFOL has their own creations on their own table(s). Of course, there will be certain displays that don’t even need a table.

Brickworld planning is moving forward quickly

To ensure the best possible room rates at the hotel, we would like to show them a HIGH level of interest by exhibitors.

Are you interested in being part of a premier LEGO event in Chicago? If so, please let us know.

The hotel will be finalizing rates on December 14th. So, we would love to see an outburst of response in emails to us showing if (1) you will attend and (2) if you will need room night accomondations.

You can reply to this post or go to the Brickworld website and send an email. http://www.brickworld.us

Stay tuned to Lugnet and the BrickWorld website www.Brickworld.us for details and registration information. Meanwhile, we welcome your ideas.

We look forward to seeing you all in Chicago!!!

Sincerely, The BrickWorld Team
Hello again fellow AFOLs!!

There is a cool logo on the web site.

Funny thing is I'm not an AFOL (I'm 16)

I expect that Omi, KIE, Binky, Cajun, and any other AFOLs and anyone at Brickfest would have gotten this, too.

Sounds pretty cool. Wish I could go. But I'll still be promoting it!

Is anyone going?

Duct Tape!

Posted by ChocolateFrogs , Nov 30 2006 · 175 views
I think Duct Tape is one of the best things in the world!
Well who's with me!?!?!?
I think I pretty much made my point.
What is Duct Tape, you ask?
*gasp* ohmy.gif
Duct Tape is the best tape to use for almost anything, or everything. It should be in every emergency survival kit, and I always bring it on campouts. It comes in a variety of colors, including camo. (maybe even glow in the dark)

Tim and Jim, The Duct Tape guys, are totally awesome. I have their Page a Day desk calander, and am lovin' it!

I would love people to comment and add to this conversation on Duct Tape.

And now, from the Washington Post Magazine, 11/26/06, Joel Achenbach's Rough Draft "Please Fence Me In":
Blah, blah, political stuff...
That's why congress should pass immediately a critical supplemental bill, the Duct Tape Act of 2006. Americans believe there is no problem so grave that we cannon solve it, in part, with duct tape.

Here are some more great quotes:
Duct Tape is like the Force. It has a light side, a dark side, and it holds the universe together.

Silence is Golden, and Duct Tape is silver.

Yeah, go Duct Tape! patriot.gif _icon_joy_.gif _icon_joy_.gif _icon_joy_.gif

What is the average velocity...

Actually, with the Monty Python and the Holy Grail theme, did anyone see the Spamalot float in the Macy's Day parade? They did the song "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life." Very good.

On the topic of Smamalot, anyone seen it? I haven't, but have heart the soundtrack, which is very funny. The play is supposed to be very funny, too.
