Well, minifigs have no VISIBLE noses. Between their eyes and their mouth is a thin yellow membrane that lets oxygen in but keeps other materials out. That is why no matter how long you hold a minifig underwater, THEY WILL NOT DROWN. They are able to breathe the dissolved oxygen in the water. Thank you for attending this session on minifig respiration.

Well, when they're moving they need more oxygen, and the scuba gear helps them get more. But when you just hold them under there, they're not moving so don't need any, see?
