Some Pokemon Related Assistance?

No, not that kind of assistance.

Everyone's familiar with Rise of the Rockets, right?

No? It's one of the most, if not the most, successful Pokemon RPGs we've had, but that's not saying a lot.

A few months ago, I proposed to Parugi an idea. I was going to turn this RPG into a game. A Pokemon game. Originally, there were going to be two. RotR: Liberty, and RotR: Rocket. However, due to the amount of sheer content in the RPG itself, I decided to split the games into four.

Two games focusing of Liberty's side, before and after the Manaphy Arc. Two games focusing on Rocket's side.

So there I began. I started hacking a Fire Red game as my base. Unfortunately, things kept crashing and not working as intended, and I was waiting on a patch to give access to all 649 Pokemon. However, even now, the patch isn't ready, so production kinda stopped.

But I want to start up again. I have the story map, national dex (edited, will not include all Pokemon), and key trainers all ready done. Now, all I need to do is work my way around the FR Base and edit it to my needing.

I will need to hack the thing a lot. But that's where you come in.

If you know how to sprite, can take music from Sinnoh/Hoenn and play it with a Kanto soundfont, or have any experience hacking a Pokemon game, I'd like to ask for your help.

Not only will the games help summarize and recap the RPG for new and old players alike, I think that it has the potential to be a great game.

If you're interested, leave a comment or PM me, please.

I heard something about spriting. I can take a variety of sprites and slice them up and reassemble them gruesomely if that sounds useful, at all?

Well, what I'll need the most of are trainer sprites, with only descriptions to go off of. Cleaning up some Pokemon sprites as well.

The only real restriction is that the sprite has to be 64x64 (unless trainer sprites are different, but I don't think they are), since I'm importing them into a Gen III game.

I'd love all the help I can get, though.

I can confirm a 64x64 limit on trainer sprites, based on measurement samples from several sprites ripped out of Fire Red. Little more restrictive than I'm used to, but I'm sure I can work with this.

The first Liberty one will go up to the Manaphy Arc, since I can't squeeze more than four regions into a FireRed game.

Unfortunately, the DS Pokemon hacking community is a small bunch. I would ideally use something like HGSS as a base, but there aren't the tools necessary for a game I'm planning.

Ideally, a Black/White base would be preferable, but there's almost no way for that to work. =/

Though, what about the second Liberty one? Will any of these cover any of the more unofficial arcs that don't directly pertain to either team? I kinda curious about this. =)

A Black/White base would be nice, but yeah, people are still developing tools. Right now, most tools are just trainer/wild Pokemon/stat editors. There is one Gen 4 mapping tool I know of that works kinda well, but it's still in development as well.

Actually, I took a hiatus right as the Manaphy Arc began, so I'm not really familiar with what happened afterwards to where I became active again in the new topic. I'd have to do some searching, but it seems like Team Rocket/Liberty faze out of the main story for a while.

What I thought of just now is that the second game will be a joint-sequel of the first Liberty/Rocket game, assuming I get that far. It will probably deal with all of the unofficial arcs (assuming they don't happen too simultaneously). Again, I'll need a recap of what happened during then.

The only thing I'm aware of is the Searcher plot, and the stuff with Palkia. I know there's more, though.

EDIT: What am I talking about? Sorry, my brain went derp in that paragraph. =P Yes, the second game will deal with the unofficial arcs (assuming I understand what you mean by unofficial arcs).

Well, that all would be good to include(Maybe even as optional side-quests, if that's possible?), yes. I was more meaning all the stuff we're getting distracted by right now, like the huge Unova arc and the alt-dimension stuff with Mewthree. >>'

The Unova Arc isn't official? whaaaat

Also, to be honest, I've got a bad habit of not reading all the posts in the thread, so I am hopelessly lost and I've got pretty much no idea what is going on in Unova right now. =\

Well technically it is, but then again it isn't, but in a way it is, but it also isn't.

Basically, it started while I was still a normal member, so I'm not entirely sure of whether it'd fit here, especially since it's not a 'Liberty' mission, but some people who happen to be Liberty agents(And a Rocket, but who's counting Ray? =P) go off to try and save the dimensions. But, in the end, it's your choice. xD

Well, I could help out with that, if you need it; but everything's coming to the endgame there now.

Hahaha, you have a good point there, Parugi. xD I just wasn't sure on your stance, since, although we've talked about it many times, I never thought to bring that up to you. xD

Unova plot is in, then!

The majority of the second game will take place in Unova, then.

I've actually made decent progress, I'm about 10% done inserting Pokemon (stats, moves, stuff like that). I've attempted to add (replace) some moves, too, but I need more help with that. I can change the name, effect, base power, PP, and accuracy, but I don't know how to change the animation and description yet.
