since the only pic of me on here is like three and a half years old I thought I'd post an updated one (also because I thought my hair looked awesome today)

A good day for mail

early birthday gift from my parents. cost about $45, amazingly, for all the roboriders save Boss, two Tahus, Onua, Pohatu, Tahu Nuva, Onua Nuva and Lewa Nuva. Of course I already have multiples of the bionicle sets, this was mostly for the roboriders, but I never had onua or tahu's canisters and all the sets came with their promo material (posters, ad books) which I had long ago misplaced. So yay for that!

Star Wars

Posted by The Xinlo , Nov 11 2014 · 0 views

Would anyone be able to steer me in the direction of a cool Star Wars DVD box set? I like my DVD collection to look nice and coherent with box sets rather than individual DVDs but all I can ever find for Star Wars is blu-ray. Anyone have one they'd recommend or know of a good one to get?

on the Doctor Who finale

Posted by The Xinlo , Nov 02 2014 · 0 views

so I got fed up with the show (after being a loyal viewer since series 2) after The Caretaker and haven't seen any episodes since. Ryuujin says the finale's looking to be great, so I thought I'd get everyone's opinion: is it worth catching up on the show to see the finale? Or should I just watch the finale and forget the 4 episodes I missed? or should I just not care at all?

you decide!

I made an art

this is like the first time I've drawn in over a year so I could use some feedback. here or in the topic, doesn't really matter, but many thanks either way!

click for picture of Gali

so yeah she's supposed to be swimming but the scanner cut off her feet so it looks like she's just walking with her hand out in the air for no reason. :P

brought all my sets out from storage

Posted by The Xinlo , Oct 13 2014 · 123 views

so yeah my room's really small now and I have nowhere to put all my bionicles, so I packed them up when we moved here and they've been in storage for almost 2 years...

with the return of bionicle I was feeling all nostalgic and had to bring them out, even if they have to go back in a few days.

anyway here's some pictures of my collection as it looks at the moment (this is still only slightly more than half, there's all the larger sets in the long box I didn't take out and all the disassembled duders in a very large bucket. also all those ones' empty cases in a bag in storage still).

and here's a bonus thing, all the original '01 sets that I still have with their original poackaging. Not too many, but it's still nice to look at it especially since I was too young and not quite into bionicle yet to remember what these looked like on the shelves.

ok NOW I can post my thoughts

Posted by The Xinlo , Oct 09 2014 · 97 views

these new sets look really awesome and I'm buying them all. I still have some gripes (gali's mask is still too evil looking for me but I am disliking it less with time, pohatu's feet boomerangs seem like an afterthought, onua's hulkness isn't doing it for me and neither is kopaka's bulk. I always saw him as being lean and mean... but oh well.) but overall I am very excited. I'm actually loving lewa so muc which is weird 'causehis mask is probably the furthest from the original but yeah.

also the return of clone sets is a ripoff, but it's a nostalgic one and I'm fine with it lol

So yeah I haven't made an entry about them yet, so because of today's thingy, I will pass judgement.

Edit: Remember not to discuss leaked images.

Toa Mata

Posted by The Xinlo , Sep 14 2014 · 216 views

me and my good buddy Takal were debating earlier about the difference between Earth and Stone elements, and we came to a disturbing discovery:

earth and stone are basically the same (bye Onua)

Gali can heat water (she did so in one of the early comic issues, forget which) which means she can also freeze it (bye Kopaka)

following the same logic, Pohatu should be able to heat rock to create magma, and by extension, flames (this would be difficult I'd imagine, and nowhere near as practical as Tahu's fire abilities, but it still makes him redundant)

and Gali could also control air in a roundabout way by evaporating water or simply focusing on the moisture in the air to much the same effect as Lewa's abilities. Coupled with a Kakama for making tornadoes and you're good to go

So that's Kopaka and Onua rendered useless and Tahu and Lewa maybe handy to have around for a shortcut to certain abilities, but the gist of it is Gali and Pohatu could easily and practically be the whole team for 90% of the circumstances they were put in. They're also the only two who get along, so we ditch the angst as well.

Bam. Perfect harmony in a Toa team at last, and a perfect gender ratio. We have fixed Bionicle, my friends.

Doctor Who

I can't even put my frustration with this show into words... every new episode that comes out makes me dislike it more. The potential is there, as it always was, for amazing things, but at literally every turn it's almost intentionally ruined.

it's like every time there might be a redeeming moment moffat goes "lol fart joke"

obviously there aren't (many) actual fart jokes but you get my point I hope

gaaaaaaaaah
