Collapsible Lung

Posted by Ta-metru_defender , in Music Jul 03 2013 · 262 views

Been listening to Relient K's new record more or less incessantly since yesterday.
Gotta say, I really like it. No, not quite as good as Forget and Not Slow Down, but that's more because it's incredibly different (And FNSD is one of my favorite albums ever (up there with Vice Verses and How To Dismantle an Atomic Bomb and Scars and Stories).

But I really like the differentiness. To that, "If I Could Take You Home" is an early favorite ("Don't Blink" and "When You Were My Baby" are other highlights [So are "Boomerang" and "PTL", actually]).

So yeah. Different. But great.

So, I gotta say, I clicked on the entry because I thought you were about to say your lung was collapsing now. This is much better news, just sayin'. =P

Now, I'm on of those people who likes old Relient K. So while I liked Forget and Not Slow Down, I liked albums like MMHMM and The Anatomy of the Tongue in Cheek much more. Nevertheless, I'll most likely still buy this one. :P

Also, in what way is it different? Like, in an 80s-pop way?

One did a few years ago during the first surgery, but that's all ages ago. =P

I love Mmhmm, that was the album that got me into them and the one with which all their music is judged.

It's different in a synthy way. Especially If I Could Take You Home. It's a lot more light beat, less rockish, but not quite pure pop. If that makes any sense.
