Seducing Scarlett Johansson

If you've been reading Essays, Not Rants! you'll have realized that I was a huge fan of the movie Chef, in no small part to the food. I love cooking (and eating), so a movie about it was a pleasure.

Having recently coming across the recipe for the Pasta That Seduced Scarlett Johansson, the girlfriend and I decided to make it for dinner.

Dang. It was good.

Dat pasta...

Also, did you pair it with wine?  I see a pairing there.  Was it good?  What kind was it?  If you could, would you pair them together again?  Are they your OTP in terms of wine pairings?  Do they have some tragic backstory that previously kept them apart?

A Chardonnay descended from Tra'deh Joé's Shoppe of Wine and, upon being paid the requisite hiring fee of $3+tax did decide that this pasta, that could seduce Scarlett Johansson, was indeed meant to be its lover. Halfway into the meal they did find out that they had met once in the distributor; for, lo, the other ingredients that did make up the pasta were too from Tra'deh Joé's, yet the Chardonnay and Pasta were meant to be apart, for one was wine and the other not.

But honestly nothing beats a good steak and malbec.

Not sure if I've had steak and malbec.  I will definitely keep that in mind.

I remember that after I learned about wines, I had Xmas dinner (spaghetti and home made meatballs) with an Apothic Red (Zinfandel, Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon mix) and it made the meal taste fantastic.

I need to dig up my old wine chart and figure out a few pairings sometime before I die.  So good...

My pairing knowledge is limited to what goes well with white and what with red, and then that chocolate, nuts, and ice cream go well with port (ever had a ice cream and port float? Sounds weird, but it's good).

The malbec I had at a fancy dinner and was recommended by the sommelier. Sadly, malbec isn't one of Trader Joe's $3 wines, so I usually use a cabernet sauvignon. Because I'm a poor wino.
