My favorite required "reading" list for a class consisted of Watchmen (the comic), The Road, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Battlestar Galactica, and American Gods. It was a weird class.

 

Competing With the Soviets actually sounds kind of interesting.

Took a class last year called Religion, Fantasy, and Imagination.

 

Taught by an 80-year old Scottish professor/actor who graduated from Saint Andrews, and the required readings were The Chronicles of Narnia, LotR trilogy, and the Harry Potter Saga.

I'm not surprised. Much. If you take storytelling class par for the course (pun intended).

 

Back in the day, I hearted reading Stephen King's On Writing for AP Lang though.

Is freakin' awesome.

 

Trust me, as a web designer I get similar treats. It's just harder to conceptualize. If I don't get them I make my own. 

Scott McCloud? Does he know James or Fox McCloud?

Madame Bovary is a wild ride from start to finish. Ulysses...well, I never got past page 15 or so. I need to revisit it.
