When preforming CPR on somebody, you'll hear the cartilage of the ribs breaking, and sometimes the ribs themselves breaking.

On topic, did it hurt badly?

When performing CPR on somebody, you'll feel the cartilage/ribs breaking. Woo, morbid!

They'll forgive you if they live.

That sounds cold and morbid, but it is true.

They still have hearts: the pumping of blood is the main purpose of CPR.

Great , now my confidence for getting gages is once again shattered

Gages aren't in the cartilaginous part of the ear last I checked...

Having read the above, I would just like to say for the record that if I ever need CPR, just me me die instead.

Eh, rib cartilage breaking isn't that bad. I mean, it's painful as all get out, but, y'know, you bounce back. The healing process is odd, though; your ribs can pop like your knuckles. Also, sneezing hurts like a motorfudger.
