President Trump Killed Anne Frank

Jean Valjean

:kaukau: So I was playing this game called diep.io. It's a bit like agar.io, except that you have a little tank that you shoot people down with. I decided to make my tank's name Anne Frank, because I thought "Who would shoot someone with that name?" Well...you saw the title. You clicked and read this entry. Take a wild guess at the name of the tank that took me out.

To be fair, I had upgraded my tank to the Assassin class, and I was on the leaderboard. That's not exactly the type of person that you want getting close to the president.

For the past few days, I changed my screen name to Kim Jong-Un so that there would be something satisfying about my tanks inevitable destruction. But today I decided that I was in the mood for winning. I wanted to start winning again. I wanted to put my tank first. I wanted to make diep.io great again. So I changed my tank's name to President Trump.

Lo and behold! I got the highest score that I have ever got before, by quite a significant margin. I upgraded to Octotank and just chased everyone that I saw. I never stepped down from a fight, always held my ground, and it paid off. For the first time ever, I rose to the rank of #1 on the leaderboard, and I finished with a score of 187,501.

Anyway, here's what I do to succeed: I ultimately upgrade to either an Octotank or a Triplet and upgrade fire rate, bullet penetration, bullet damage, and bullet speed to to the maximum, in that order. I stay as a Twin for as long as possible. The fire rate helps you take out a lot of debris in the beginning to help you level up fast, so I'm quickly able to upgrade my bullet penetration. The advantage of having bullet penetration at its maximum is that it allows you to shoot down other people's bullets, which is excellent for defense and gets you out of a pinch. It's especially useful if you have a thick stream of bullets, such as when you're using a Twin. The next thing that I upgrade is bullet damage, because it actually works quite effectively for defense, and it helps my to upgrade faster as I'm clearing away depris. Then, once I'm ready to start going offensive, I upgrade my bullet speed. It makes harder for people to run away from me, and it's easier to corner them. Between bullet speed and penetration, I put a lot of pressure on my opponents, and I've discovered that it's remarkably effective in clearing out other tanks out of my way. The final thing that I upgrade, with the points that I have left, is movement speed. Back when my main strategy, as Anne Frank, was to hide from other players and avoid their fire, I used to use this, in conjunction with my advanced field of vision, to dodge bullets. However, once I realized that rapid-fire, high-penetration bullets was a better defensive strategy, I began using movement speed as an offensive tool. Basically, it allows me to keep people in my field of vision after they start fleeing from me. This became an important part of my strategy, because once I upgraded to a Triplet or an Octotank, I managed to get a few shots in before people started fleeing and got far enough away that they were hard to aim at. Once I obtained the ability to hunt them down and maintain pressure, I got to the point where killing my opponents became an inevitability.

I'm still torn between whether the Triplet or the Octotank is my favorite tank class. They have both served me well. In a free-for-all game, I could go either way, although I tend to choose the Triplet more often. That having been said, my highest score by far was using an Octotank. But that Octotank, as it happens, was gunned down by a Triplet. When it comes to domination matches, though, there's no question about it: I always upgrade to a Triplet. It's simply the best tool for taking out Dominators. So overall I find that I prefer the Triplet in most situations, but I'm open to using the Octotank in free-for-all mode, since it's very useful for when there's multiple opponents, and getting caught in the crossfire of multiple opponents is honestly what kills me once I reach the higher levels.
