Episode IX delayed until December

Jean Valjean

:kaukau: So it looks like it's going to wait for a little over another half year before it's released. Again, because of the drama with the director. Hopefully this means that it will be extra good, and honestly, I'm not complaining.

Wonder Woman 2 was also going to be released in December 2019, but now that's obviously going to get pushed back. No studio in their right mind would want to compete with the God of Blockbusters. Speaking of Wonder Woman, her HISHE came out, and my absolute favorite part is when she said "IT'S NOT ALWAYS ABOUT YOU, BRUCE!" Man, I love it when Diana puts Batman in his place. Am I the only person here who has read Wonder Woman: The Hiketeia? Awesome book. She eventually gets sick of Batman and his shtick and curb stomps him. The cover of that book is even a literal picture of him getting curb-stomped under her boot. Love it. One of my favorite comics. Plus it had very serious themes.

Also, I said that I would write my It review today, but I totally didn't do that. Tomorrow, I hope? I'm truly impressed with how well it did on its opening weekend, actually, and even though I thought that the movie was pretty silly, I'm actually not complaining with it's success. There's something cool about seeing a small-budget non-franchise film get the third-largest opening of the year.

EDIT: *groan* J.J.? I mean, I didn't have Episode VII, but the guy is far from someone who can do no wrong. There were issues with that movie. ScreenJunkies had a debate and decided that Patty Jenkins would be the best director, and while I don't think that she would be the best, I would definitely put her in my top picks, and I would prefer her to J.J. Abrams.

Colin Trevorrow: Mr. Abrams. This is an unexpected pleasure. We are honored by your presence.

JJ Abrams: You may dispense with the pleasantries, Colin. I am here to put you back on schedule.

Colin Trevorrow: I assure you, Mr. Abrams, my film crew is working as fast they can.

JJ Abrams: Perhaps I can find new ways to motivate them.

Colin Trevorrow: I tell you that this movie will be released as planned.

JJ Abrams: The fans do not share your optimistic appraisal of the situation.

Colin Trevorrow: But they ask the impossible. I need more time.

JJ Abrams: Then perhaps you can tell them when they arrive.

Colin Trevorrow: The fans are coming here?

Vader: That is correct, Colin, and they are most displeased with your apparent lack of progress.

Colin Trevorrow: We shall double our efforts.

JJ Abrams: I hope so, Colin, for your sake. The fans are not as forgiving as I am.

:kaukau: Vader just had to butt into that conversation, didn't he?  Finishing J.J.'s lines for him.

Actually, I'm not complaining about J.J. as much as my initial tone sounds.  I was just hoping for something different is all, and I was getting ahead of myself thinking of the possibilities.  But I am a little worried.  J.J. is really good at brining fresh life to franchises, but doesn't have the best track record when it comes to coming back for seconds.  Just a little bit worried.  Which again, is one reason why I was hoping for a fresh director, but that is of course always a risk.

Hmmm, I have like three different things that I want to blog about tomorrow...I was going to write about something else, but now I suppose that I'm going to have to address my thoughts on this whole J.J. thing.

I liked what JJ did with Force Awakens, so I'm glad to see him back. I think considering everything that has happened with Lord and Miller, Trank, and Trevorrow, Kathleen Kennedy wanted a director she could trust to not go crazy with the source material.

And while I would love to see what Patty could do with Star Wars, I'd much prefer her to stay with WW2. DC needs her, but Lucasfilm doesn't.
