Paralympics 2012!

So, my friend and teammate in high school, Zach Abbott, qualified for the 2012 Paralympics in London. This is just way awesome, because it's been a goal of his since he was a kid to qualify for a Paralympics.

 

Here he is competing at the 2011 ParaPan American Games, where he placed silver in the 800m, and bronze in the 100m, 200m, and 400m:

At London, he is competing in the 100m, 200m, 400m, and 800m in the T53 classification, and the 4x400m relay in the T53/T54 classification. He is ranked 5th in the world going into the 100m, and the 4x400m relay team he is on is ranked 4th. I am way excited to see him compete and hopefully do awesome!

My cousin made Olympic qualifying in 10,000 m, but it ended there.

 

Too bad the Paralympics aren't on TV in the US, but since the Chinese (and plenty others) are clobbering us, I'm not too disappointed.

Holy cow, who is your cousin??? Was it this year?

 

They actually have a lot of places online that are doing live streams or have recordings of various sessions, you just have to search for it. Apparently NBC is doing hour long recaps, but I guess they're filled more with fluff stories than actual footage, which is kind of annoying when you want to see proper footage.

Zack must have hulk arms! My cousin won Sweden's only gold medal at the Olympics or he and his team mate did.

 

Was it Fredrik Lööf and Max Salminen for sailing, in the star class? That's really neat!
