Yeah, see the thing is is that I've never actual seen any of the LotR movies in their entirety, and I still haven't read the books. I think between the three, I've maybe seen an hour and a half of viewing time....

It was his description of HOW to get into Mordor. Doesn't mean he was there. But aparrently he knows what it looks like, so maybe in the years before Sauron came back to power he took a peek.

He did go into Mordor, or at least to its border, but I'm talking about the fact that he never made it there in the main trilogy.
