Glasses For Contacts?

I went to the eye doctor for an annual check-up yesterday (where lo and behold, my nearsightedness actually improved slightly?), and ended up deciding to go back to wearing contacts more often. I ended up mentioning to the doctor that the main reason I didn't wear contacts much was because with contacts, it bugged my eyes and would give me a headache when I was reading or on the computer, as I couldn't take them off like I usually would with my glasses. She suggested that I buy a pair of inexpensive reader glasses that had a power of +1.25, as they would negate what I'd be seeing with my contacts in, making it so I'm seeing what I would normally see without any contacts or glasses.

Mind you, it's all rather odd and slightly confusing to be buying a pair of glasses in order to wear contacts more often, but it should work out in the long run.

There is also an amazing magical food cart/bus in Portland that sells grilled cheese sandwiches, including one called the "Cheesus Burger" (a hamburger patty mashed between two grilled cheese sandwiches) and "The Fat Elvis" (peanut butter, grilled banana, and bacon on white bread). It's really fantastic.

(also, AdBlock for Safari, where have you been all my life? Not seeing any ads is so nice right now!)

I've heard of something like that...

AdBlock rocks.

Finally, slightly confused: you wear contacts like "normal" but to be able to read stuff/computer work better you just put on a pair of glasses? (As opposed to wanting to take out the contacts?)

They're one-use contacts, so taking them out multiple times in a day isn't really something I'd want to do, as technically, once I put the contacts in in the morning, taking them out of my eyes would mean that I'd need to throw them away. And, taking contacts out/putting contacts in is a bit of a hassle to begin with. The glasses negate my contact strength, so instead of seeing normally with the reader glasses on, I see as if I didn't have contacts on at all. With my normal glasses, I'd just take them off when reading or going on the computer, but with contacts, I can't do that.

As we discussed before, that Fat Elvis sounds amazing. Like, so delicious. The Cheesus Burger sounds almost like the Double Down, but not quite as bad somehow.

Also, contacts FTW! Sometimes I feel like my eyes hurt after I'm staring at a computer screen for a while, maybe I should look into getting a pair of reading glasses too. Hmm...

I'm intrigued by this contacts news. I have the same dealie where I'm not supposed to wear my glasses when reading stuff (in fact I usually don't wear them around the house at all anyway, only when I go out). Hence, I've stuck with glasses all these years. This is problematic, because I really don't like how I look with glasses and never have.

But then there's also the problem that I'm kind've scared of contacts, like the notion of putting something in my eye. I've got this uneasy anxiety that it will hurt or be uncomfortable or that I'll stab myself in the cornea (I am clumsy) or what have you. I also don't really know anything at all about contacts (i.e., how long they can stay in, how they feel, what kind of care they require, how much they cost, et cetera).

So basically, I would really really like to switch to contacts and reading glasses if possible, but I'm also kind've afraid. :(
