Ace Attorney Music Opinions

Best Pursuit Theme: Ace Attorney 1: Cornered!

Best Objection Theme: Dual Destinies' remastered Objection! from Trials and Tribulations

Best Announce the Truth Theme: Either Ace Attorney 1 or Dual Destinies; it's a tough call for me.

Best Questioning Theme: Dual Destinies

Overall Ranking: AA1>>>>>>>>>AA3>AA5>AA4>>>AA2

There are exceptions to that ranking besides the above bests, though. Justice For All has a far better Announce The Truth than Trials and Tribulations, despite Trials and Tribulations being superior to it in nearly every other aspect.

The overall ranking coincidentally aligns with my opinions on the games themselves, though i might actually let Apollo Justice edge over Dual Destinies simply for being more..... filling than it, for lack of a better word.

So I'm guessing you haven't played AAI1, AAI2, or PLvsPW yet? AAI1 probably has the weakest soundtrack, but AAI2 and PLvsPW have some good tracks.

Otherwise I mostly agree with you; AA1's music definitely has a certain something to it that didn't always get matched in the later games.  (And try as they might I don't think they'll ever surpass the original Cornered.)  AA3 had strong court themes but was a little weak out of it; AA5 was good but only had one or two absolutely great tracks (eg. Athena's Objection! theme); AA4's court themes are good but lack a certain punch, while the investigation themes are decent but nothing spectacular; AA2's court music is weak as heck, and the game only has a few great investigation tracks.

I haven't, no. I started playing AA:I1 but never got around to finishing it, and my memory of the soundtrack is too spotty to judge it by. PLvsPW hasn't seen North American release yet so I can't play it. I've heard its remixes of the classic PW songs, though. The Cornered remix sadly lacks the same drive of the original.

Yeah, you're spot on there. There's also something about the instrumentation of AA4's music that often wound up hurting my head.

AAI's cornered/final phase music where you confronted the culprit creeped me the heck out.   I don't know what it is, but I'm pretty sure the bass bouncing around mixed with the fast paced music was the perfect mixture to break my peace of mind...  -shudders-

Anyway, my favorite tracks were the remorse ones.  I think my favorite has to be Scars Carved by Fire.  I also liked Courtroom of Light and Shadow.  Cornered from AA1 is always a good listen, though.

And now I eagerly await PLvsAA because Puzzles and Psychlocks and Murder, oh my!

PLvsPW actually has two sets of court music - one is just straight reorchestrations of AA1's music (and I agree the Cornered mix leaves something to be desired) and the other set is inspired by the AA1 songs but mostly new, with a much more Layton feel to it.  That holds up much better than the AA1 reorchestrations.

OBJECTION! I believe you left out a few >s for AA1. =P

idk i don't want to oversell the original game's music because a large part of why it's so good is that it's the music that sets up the expectations for the other games. it's music is the benchmark for ace attorney music, the original, so i may be a bit hasty in declaring it as superior to the others as i have.

cornered is, however, unquestionably the best pursuit theme regardless

I don't know much about AA, as I haven't been able to play them at all yet. However, I will say that one of my favorite things ever is Godot's theme. I just can't stop listening to it ;-;
