That design is interesting. It kinda makes me think that the skin, what interacts with the world, was met with corruption, leaving it in a rough, unhealthy condition. This, I assume, drove the soul into a berserk state which drove the head mad. At least I think that's what the white hot looking effects on the chest and eyes and mouth are hinting at.

 

That or it's just a really cool take on Skeletor.

All it's missing is the pretty flower background.
