Linkin Park's Fifth Album

It's called "Living Things"; it's coming out June 26th, and it's a return to the style they had in Hybrid Theory and Meteora.

I'm happy. ^^

*continues listening to "Burn It Down" (the song they have available from the album on iTunes)*

Didn't they just release an album last year? That's kinda fast...

Not last year. 2010.

2-3 years between albums is typically the norm for most artists nowadays.

I just listened to "Burn It Down" for the first time. I'm ambivalent toward the almost completely electronic composition, I'm hoping for a lot more interplay between Mike Shinoda's rapping and Chester Bennington's singing than was shown in the single, and I think a return to slightly more aggressive songs would provide a breath of fresh air, but whatever happened I'm excited for the upcoming album. Linkin Park (in my humble opinion) has been steadily producing well-composed songs, and I doubt Living Things will be an exception.

They never said it was a return to the Hybrid Theory style, actually. They said it was like Hybrid Theory in that it features more combinations of different genres, which was their premise when they started out.

A Thousand Suns was soooo incredibly boring, so I'm hoping their new album will actually be listenable. I'll need to check out Burn It Down at some point.

I'm going to buy their new album, but only out of the loyalty of a dog to one who feeds it several times. After it's steadily more disappointing releases, I've not got my hopes up. Listening to Burn It Down, I can't hear anything that reminds me of Hybrid Theory or Meteora, instead it's more like the kind of thing I'd hear off A Thousand Suns.
