I think as long as one is making the letter readable, it's OK.

 

But that is a little weird.

even if we throw out half and claim those are all people who never use the latin alphabet your odds of being the only one are one in 3 and a half billion

 

that's 1/3500000000

 

that's 2.9*10^-8 percent

I was taught that the "correct" way of writing is to always begin at the top of a letter and go down.

I used to write most of my letters and numbers starting at the bottom, until my 5th grade teacher got after me for it, but at that point it was extremely difficult to retrain myself. My mom got me an italic penmanship book and I repeated all the work pages for an entire year ... long story short, it completely changed the way I write so that it really does look a lot like this, and I write all my letters and numbers from the top down now.

 

I don't recommend doing this, just stick with what's comfortable for you even if someone says it's "wrong".

I always wrote it top-to-bottom. Typing is where I do it wrong. I have my own style of typing that is just wrong, where my right hand does most of the work, but my left always hits the shift key when necessary. I've done it that way all my life, and I can type an average number of words in a minute in this style, but it isn't the right way, and sooner or later, I'm going to have to train myself to do it the right way.

 

That is if tablets don't take over our lives by then--typing's difficult on a tablet.

 

EDIT: In cursive, come to think of it, I do write 'S' bottom to top, but I was always taught it was the right way for cursive. Problem is that it's really similar to the numeral '8' and so sometimes I'll find myself absent-mindedly writing an 8 instead of an 'S'.
