um... the monday after easter

They have Good Friday and Ash Wednesday and other days like that. They were running out of ideas whne they had to name Monday.

It's basically a way of giving workers Easter off, since Easter already is a day off for most people.

 

It's more well-known in Europe than in the States.

Easter Monday is the day after Easter Sunday.
