Story Fragments

Posted by Zarayna , in Stories Jun 15 2012 · 260 views

Going through a word doc of fragments of stories can be pretty interesting.

Expect chapter one of a T/DH war story up soon. I currently wondering how I can tie it in with Strike From the Shadows, should that RPG win.

You know those weird transparent looking files with names like '~WRD1146'? Well, one of them had an updated version of my story. Lost all the formatting, but I got the text back, which is the important thing.

Now I must resist the urge to dance around crowing with triumph.

So, not only did my only up to date copy of the story I'm working on (106 pages last I checked) get corrupted to the point where I was unable to recover anything, but it completely vanished during an attempted recovery.

Fortunately, I have a draft I sent to my brother on the 16th, so I didn't lose too much. Some of the scenes will be a little hard to replicate. Overall, an annoying loss, and definitely a headache filled evening.

Rewriting. Euh. That about sums up how I feel. I think I'll sacrifice some sleep and curl up with a snack and a good book in a last ditch attempt to save something of the evening/night.

Speaking of evenings, I wrote the first SS I've done in a while, a CoT one at that. I present An Assassin's Reflections.

Fifty-six pages of writing on one story, probably closer to fifty when you cut out parts that are in mid edit.

This has got to be my all time record.

The annoying thing is that I've pretty much ditched my first draft, wasting 26K words.

Did you see them going off to fight?
Children of the barricade that didn't last the night.
They were schoolboys, never held a gun,
Fighting for a new world that would rise up like the sun.
Where's that new world now the fighting's done?

If there was a slap for every reference you didn't get, Zar, you would be like a walking bruise.
