Why I Hate Consoling People

Posted by Zarayna , in Life, Observations May 24 2012 · 166 views

Because I automatically assume they have the same mindset as myself: namely that in grieving, they want people to shut up and not murmur the usual cliche condolences that the fifty+ people before them already said.

Yeah, that's why my way of going to a wake is to pay my respects, say hello, and hide in some obscure corner.

Come to think of it, I have a similar opinion. Perhaps that's why I can't comfort anyone, I feel like I have to come up with something new, and that isn't possible.

Did you see them going off to fight?
Children of the barricade that didn't last the night.
They were schoolboys, never held a gun,
Fighting for a new world that would rise up like the sun.
Where's that new world now the fighting's done?

If there was a slap for every reference you didn't get, Zar, you would be like a walking bruise.
