It's Alive!

Well you see, my brothers both have completely BUSTED DS Lites. Mine being the only survivor, I figured, why not make those things useful again. The DS' were broken beyond repair, hanging on only by their wires. So using my extreme technological skills, I cut the top off with a knife. After a bit of editing, and the removal of all DS related features, I present to you: The Game Boy Advance Lite!

Wa-la! I know it isn't looking its best right now, but the thing stopping it from looking stylish is the annoying bump where the top wires were connected. It is almost impossible to get rid of without the risk of removal of the L button.

Pros:

  • Lighter than any other portable GBA system
  • Have you ever seen a gameboy with X and Y buttons?
  • Layout is nice
  • Works!

Cons:

  • At times, the game won't start up, but is rare and can easily be fixed by resetting
  • No sound obviously: The only way to hear it is by use of headphones
  • Not too stylish I must say (I actually regret not using my brother's black and blue DS, as the result would look nicer)
  • Freezed once when I banged it: I'm not going to try again to find out, but if you drop it, my guess is it will probably freeze
  • Only turns on with a game inside
  • No cover

DS Lite never dies.

It sounds very unstable though. Normally DS Lite will turn on even without a game inside (it will just return to the menu). I'd be careful if I were you.

When it doesn't turn on, what happens is it does turn on, but only for like 2 seconds, then in shuts off. But I don't see how it would function if I put it a DS game or if it worked without a top.

Daiker: It'd play, likely, but you wouldn't be able to see a thing, period. xD On the top screen, of course. So, it's perfect for games that don't temporarily move the action totally to the top screen at any parts(FF3[unless you really want to see cutscenes on the top screen] or technically Phantom Hourglass anyone?[sleep Mode for PH's map transfer section would be activated by setting it on top of an already asleep DS, handy trick for GBA Lite. =D]); but otherwise, it would be a pain to guess. You'd see game over screens a lot. =P But it would work, especially since it's the touch screen that's intact. But, I'm not entirely certain how many games are touch-screen only, for the action.

The perfect challenge for you, however, is to get GBA-technology era games to work with the X and Y buttons, whether they are official games or not. =P

Challenge accepted.

I've seen it, but it looks metal from here, so I think I have it beat B)

I use it only for GBA games: I doubt it would even turn on if I put in a DS game.

Well, I don't know why it doesn't turn on if you don't have one in the GBA slot; however, you could dual slot it, to at least attempt it. After all, if you can get it to load the menus, then it's very likely to work for a DS game. Besides, if it doesn't, then you have your answer; if it does, you get to test one screen DS games. =P
