Titanfall 2

So, does anybody play this game on PC? My origins friend list is completely empty, so someone else to play with would be nice.   It might at least be better than getting ground to dust alone.

Breath of the Wild: CLEAR!

Wow, that final boss was.... not good... The entire game led up to that fight, made a massive deal of it, and it happens, and it's just basically another blight type fight. Plus, if you actually do the blight fights, half his health gets taken out before you even touch him. (Apparently if you don't do those fights, you have to fight them at the end). Meaning it makes it way easier. I mean, the entire game led up to this, every npc told me how flattened I would be if I took Ganon on. And it was j

NieR: Automata: CLEAR! (Sort of)

Path A of NieR Automata has been cleared! (Along with W and... S? I think it's S, but that's because I was a bit awful at the game.) I still have no clue what's going on and have started the next story path. But I'm really, really, loving this game.

BoTW, post initial thoughts

I'm really enjoying this game, I haven't enjoyed a Zelda game this much since I played Windwaker.   But...   The problems I have with it are starting to grate on me. The weapon "durability" system is getting extremely annoying. And the stamina meter really, *really* needs to not ever be used again. It serves no purpose other than allowing me to get so very close to the top before I fall off of whatever I was climbing Bonus points if I fall into water and immediately drown. And god help you if yo

Merry Swwitchmas!

Woo! I must say, first impressions are pretty strong. It feels like a really well built console.   Hopefully BOTW comes early tomorrow....

RIP Scalebound

Well, NieR is coming to PC so I have one platinum game to look forward to. So there's that. Fingers crossed for some good games announced with the switch, because at this point there aren't many good exclusives to look forward to.

Someone Explain Fire Emblem to Me

I get the basic principle of the game, it's basically a more advanced chess match. But anything beyond that is eluding me.   I've been able to struggle most of my way through some if Awakening but I've hit a point where I got stuck and put it down, and am hoping to pick it up after I'm willing to remove Pokemon from my system.   It might be worth noting that I don't generally play turn based strategy games.   So, any tips?

NieR: CLEAR!

I really don't know how to feel about this one. On one hand the story is really interesting and super depressing, both things I enjoy, on the other hand, the gameplay seemed to go out of its way to do nearly everything wrong. From a leveling system that makes no sense, to save points being in the exact wrong places and dungeons that lock you in with few recovery options and a bunch of generic RPG stuff that seemed tacked on with little benefit.   But the story, world building, characters and mus

There's Probably A Lesson Somewhere

Continuing on a fairly recent blog entry of mine dealing with the young lady at the restaurant, it would appear that she no longer works there.   This is not the first time this has happened, though usually my reaction is of relief that I don't have to deal with it anymore. This time I'm a bit dissapointed.   I know it's my own fault, but I just can't seem to do anything about it for a mess of reasons. I thought maybe I could do it this time.   Probably the biggest one is my inability to drive,

Go Vote

Today's the day, so if you are registered to vote, I strongly urge you to go make your voice heard.   And if you're voting third party, don't listen to those who tell you it's a wasted Vote, it's not.

Nintendo Switch

Speaking as somebody who is tied up in the public transit system for a minimum 3 hours on weekdays this looks absolutely fantastic.   If you haven't seen it:   Most of my concerns lie with built in software and how all of that works and if Nintendo has finally decided to join this decade with it's online features, but I'm sure we'll hear more on that.   But I'm pretty hyped.

On Preordering Video Games

I don't understand the justifications my friends come up with for continually doing this. I was playing Destiny with my friend and one of his friends and he mentioned that he almost finished paying off his pre-order for GOW4. When I asked him what he would do if that was a bad decision and it was a dud. He nonchalantly said he would trade it in. When I mentioned waiting for reviews, his freind, in a defensive, sort of offended tone stated reviews don't matter and you should decide for yourself w

Metroid Prime: CLEAR!

That took far longer then it should have... great game though. Despite it being a decade old it still looks really good, if maybe a bit outdated. Things like missiles exploding and seeing Samus's face reflected in the visor where really nice touches.   On to Metroid Prime: Echoes!

Super Metroid: Clear!

This one took far too long. Really, really great game. Brought me back to when I played Zero Mission as a kid.   Next up: Prime! If I can get through that omega pirate...

I Have a Serious Question

Okay, so I'm seeing if I can't get a second opinion that's in no way connected to my personal life.   OK, so a little less then a month ago I was at a local restaurant with my family for my father's birthday. When I went up to order the young lady who took it made note that she saw me there often, (which is true) and asked for my name. (She also gave me hers but I was kind of panicking at this point and I can't actually remember it.) Now, my family is convinced that she was flirting with me.

I Got a Four Player Revive with Mercy!

You can't hear it in the video as it's recorded from the main menu and not in game, but the rest of my team was singing praise for that.   I'm really proud of this moment. (It's even better that I got to spite a Junkrat because the amount of times a Junkrat player has burned their ult to hunt me down and kill me is just really too high.)   Oh hey, look there's my mouse. Can't fix it now...

Happy Birthday Metroid!

This day (or tomorrow maybe?) Was when my favorite video game franchise launched. I wouldn't discover it until after the launch of Zero Mission. Which is still my favorite in the series.   I'm going to go celebrate by attempting to beat Prime.

WHY?

Okay, so, if you work in a building and see a bag has come off the edge of a trashcan and fallen in you have a couple options.   A: notify someone to fix the problem B: fix the problem C: ignore it and keep chucking your trash in it, it'll get fixed.   If you picked A or B, congrats, you are more competent than some of my coworkers. Give yourself a pat on the back.   Bonus points if you dump liquid in the trashcan...

The End of Bionicle. Again.

I'm honestly not surprised. I liked some of the 2015 sets and bought some of them, but the 2016 sets where mostly not to my liking. I don't even know what's happened in the story. I was a little sad about the news but I heard of some of the situations with the sets being not released in certain regions so I'm not surprised.   If nothing else the '15 Gali set was phenomenal so I have that to remember it by.

NES classic

This looks really cool, it has a pretty good selection of games, is pretty cheap, all things considered and the controller is cool. But I feel it accentuates just how expensive the games are to obtain on Nintendo's other hardware. At $5 a pop it would cost $150 to buy them all, assuming they're all available. I understand it took work creating the emulator and putting everything together, but that is one heck of a price difference.   And since it is so cheap, I bet it's going to be a long time b

Work/CEO Visit

A little while ago the CEO of the company I work for visited my place of work. Me being the sole janitor working there obviously had a lot of work to do. It was an exhausting week as you can probably imagine.   I was not able to stay, but several of my coworkers informed me that the CEO was very impressed at how well the place was kept up and that most branches don't put in much effort.   So that's pretty awesome. I wonder how many people can say that. Definitely an improvement over my last plac

Metroid Prime

I'm finally getting around to playing this game. Not that I should be in any hurry since it's been nearly a decade since the last release I'm willing to acknowledge. I've no idea how much further I've got to go, I'm thinking it can't be that much further... I just got the power bomb, based on past experience that should be fairly endgame I think.   I'm not really a fan of the enemies that phase in and out of visibility, makes them a pain to aim at, and the Chozo ghosts, while not a threat, shou

E3 Day 2-3

I was a bit disappointed in what Microsoft brought to the table in terms of games and software, but I really like the crossplay thing they're going to do. I'm still not a huge fan of digital games for consoles but it really doesn't seem like there's a point anymore. and being able to play the same games on my PC will be nice. But I have to wonder, if all of their first party games are going to PC and most third party ones are already there, why should I buy a console from them? The custom contro
