LoK Season Finale

My goodness that was fantastic. And people insist this is a kids show.

Anyway, my thoughts:

We finally got to see airbender vs. airbender combat, which is long overdue, and especially fantastic.

Tenzin's not dead which is good, I like him.

Also there where some points where I thought they where going to kill Lin in the last fight she was in. And I don't think I would be able to forgive the writers if they did that.

And the last fight seems to have some callbacks to the original last fight In ATLA with the pillars of rocks and the avatar state. And the non-traditional ways of bending used by the four main baddies is awesome. And then having that be their downfall is perhaps the best part. Not to mention that that seems to be a metaphor for what they stand for.

The part where they tried to eradicate the avatar. I don't know how any of them thought that was going to go. But it went pretty much how I expected. Also the fact that Korra tried to hold off the avatar state to save everything the avatar stands for after giving herself up knowing fully well that there was no guarantee she was going to make it out alive was absolutely heartbreaking. She's come a long way since season one.

And I very nearly cried toward the end and I never do that. Ever.

There was so much awesome and I can't possibly cover all of it.

TENZIN IS NOT DEAD!  YEEEESSSSS!

Also, you underestimate Lin.  Lin is awesome, and she's used to combat and taking risks.  Though, that she told her sister that she loved her right before she did something reckless... you really know she understands what's at stake and does her job anyway.  I love her character so much.

Also, can I just say something other people haven't been saying so far?

Hadicapped Avatar.  This is really cool because one of the villains was handicapped and was still pretty freaking awesome.  And this isn't the first time we've seen handicapped characters in the show.  In fact, the inventor that occupied the Air temple probably left behind some inventions for his son that could aid Korra in the next season (should her condition be permanent, which would be very much interesting and plays into the overall theme of the season.  "Change can be good or bad depending on how you look at it.").

Also, I never noticed how much Jinora looks like her grandfather at that age.  BALD HEADS FOR ALL THE CHARACTERS TO COMPARE TO PREVIOUS AIR NOMADS!

You know, I was seriously worried when Korra went into the avatar state.  Then I remembered "oh yeah, they just totally screwed themselves over with this, didn't they?"  I mean, only Azula was ever able to kill the avatar in the avatar state (to our knowledge), and she was only able to do that because she had lightning.  They had other elements, how adorable.

Also I totally ship Kai and Jinora.  Bolin and Opal was really cute at first, and their ship has promise, but I dunno.  Whether or not they work as a couple still remains to be seen (however it will literally be the most serious relationship Bolin has ever had, regardless).

Name drop character:  How you know she's secretly the leader of the Red Lotus before any of the characters because she has a name.  Isn't that just a little sad?

Also, I did call their motive for Korra, but it was an obvious call in hindsight.  I guess everyone else was hoping for something else?  What else I have no idea, but it clearly did not happen.

Also, why did Korra hug Mako and not Asami or anyone else?  Like, you're broken up.  You have other friends.  BE FRIENDLY WITH YOUR FRIENDS, KORRA!  FRIENDSHIP IS THE BEST THING EVER!  #TeaFromYu-Gi-Oh

Lavabending Bolin:  WAHOOO!  The thought did cross my mind because he was also an earthbender which meant he had that potential (especially since fire and earth both run in his blood), but I am so happy they actually did that with him.

One gripe:  Why did they stop to have feelings at inopportune times?  It's revealed that Kai escaped and he might know something?  Nah, let the adults talk!  (The heck was with that?)

What?  Korra's in peril and we need to make haste?  Nah, lemme give you a really small reassurance and some pep talk.  We could have done this on the bison before we landed?  Hah!  Like Aang's long, luscious locks we could!  (I mean, srsly?)

Other than that one thing, I pretty much liked everything else.

I have no idea how they can top themselves.  This might just have been better than season one for me.

Bravo, Team Avatar.  Bravo.

Season four is next season.  =P

-is hit over the head with a rock-

That fight sequence was pretty amazing.  Better than season four on a whole? ...  No, because taking down Azula went along with that.

But I was talking about season one of Legend of Korra, not season four of Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Oh. Must have misread that. My mistake. Carry on.

I actually meant season three cuz I keep forgetting theres not one for each element.

Korra's kinda like the extra chapters for special bending.  Season one was airbending (the training for which we have yet to see), season two was about spirits and spiritual bending (which is still kinda vague), and season three was all about the metal and lava (although lava hasn't been fully explained yet and Korra learned to metalbend after she got vague advice, so...  Yeah, maybe I'm wrong about this.  =P)
