Replay value: Destiny Vs. MOTN

So, as some of you may know, Destiny was released (about) two weeks ago. One of it's main gameplay features is how much you will be replaying parts of it. A lot. That's not really a problem. The problem is that there is very little reason for me to want to replay it. The only mission that makes me want to replay it is Sword of Crota because of the GIANT. FREAKING. SWORD. The only level that has such a feature. But since the game is designed to have parts of it replayed several times it seems like more effort should have been put into that. But other then doing it with a different class or with different weapons.

Contrast this with Mark of the Ninja. (This also happens to be a favorite of mine) This game is designed to be played with quite a few strategies. From the beginning the game gives you numerous options while moving forward. You can A) Go through the level silently and not raise any alarms and leave all the guards alone (Good luck) B) Shoot through the level as fast as possible C) Kill every guard in your path D) Terrify the guards and turn them against each other, or mix and match as you see fit. And as you progress through the levels you can earn points that go to new abilities, items and upgrades that make that process more efficient and entertaining, as well as catering to specific play styles.

So while they aren't really in the same catagory, they both need replay value and one of the developers seems to have had that in mind from the start and the other one doesn't seem to quite get it.

Destiny also seems to have issues explaining itself to new players (Including me). It waits til you are faced with a situation to explain to you what that situation is and what to do with it (I didn't even know what exotic armor was until I obtained and equipped one) Which is frustrating. I'm still not entirely sure what a raid is, and I've only heard a few things from friends. From what I've heard it throws all the established rules out the window. (Yay.) Again, not something MotN has trouble with, as the first level is basically a tutorial level, and then it does shocking things like: call the noxious floating substance underground "Poison gas", or have lights make you visible or things like that. While Destiny Neglects to inform you how light works and confirms that that wizard is indeed, from the moon.

So yeah. Destiny could use some improvement. But MotN is awesome, and if you have a Steam account or an Xbox 360 you should play it because it's awesome. I'll probably make an entry devoted to it soon as it's fantastic.

raid's a general MMO term meaning "a really hard, really long dungeon requiring the most people the game supports at once killing bosses in stages" and usually drops the best items in that respective game

though at the moment you can't matchmake for it, which means i can't really do it anyway

all i do now is just crucible when i'm bored and some bounties to upgrade legendary stuff, i mostly keep playing because i like my character :B
