FILM OF THE DAY!

Posted by Strange Festive Voltex , in Film / Shows Jan 01 2015 · 101 views

Go check out the start of my new series, FILM OF THE DAY on my other blog! I would post the series here, but since it's going to be a daily thing (except for weekends), I'd rather not clog up my blog here with it. :)

I will, however, occasionally post about it on BZP (if the film is one I particularly recommend), and there will always be links to it in the sidebars here.

Today, to launch the series, I've focused on The Matrix - one of my favorite films.

2015 is so this year

It's time we started looking to the future!

Hopefully it'll be done by the end of next week

If it takes too long or we lose a bunch of stuff... well, it would depend on both what we lose and how much
I guess we shouldn't lose anything, but

Things never go wrong on purpose

Anyway

why does this always happen (aka merry christmas)

Posted by Strange Festive Voltex , in Life Dec 25 2014 · 163 views

Every single year I ask my parents for a single movie
Every single year they get that movie... for my brother.

Parents, Imma kick you into next week. TBH, all of the fun presents I got this year were from my brothers and you guys :P (with the exception of a Tardis mug, which I'm not entirely certain what to make of)

Anyway I'll probably bump this entry later with my loot. Which this year includes a box of screwdrivers, because reasons.

2014 Loot:
-Hammerwatch (PC) - bzp
-The Stanley Parable (PC) - bzp
-GCN Controller Adapter - bzp
-Transparent Tahu Mask - bzp
-A broken coffee mug I won in a Christmas present "Grinch" game - work
-Allen/hex key - work
-A 40 piece screwdriver and bits set - work
-Video Games Guinness Records 2015
-"Walking Home" by Eric Walters
-End of the Line Crate Keys x2 (PC) - bzp
-TARDIS Coffee Mug
-$50 in cash
-An Old Spice kit (which arrived just in time, hurrah)
-Minecraft Stone Pickaxe keychain
-Marshmallows
-Various packets of different hot chocolates
-a chocolate "D"
-Pajamas, because I totally needed more of those instead of socks
-Link Amiibo
-Pikachu Amiibo
-Peach Amiibo
-Sony releasing The Interview after all, and it was rather good - sony
-Super Meat Boy (PC) - whoever bought my TF2 Tour of Duty ticket on the market

So, yeah. As far as gifts from family... this year kinda stinks (specifically with regards to my parents; the $50 is from grandparents and the amiibo figures are from my brothers). My parents appear to have gone out of their way to try and make me disappointed this year, which is disappointing in and of itself. I know that pessimism and other rather lackluster traits have basically consumed them, but I mean come on.

I'm honestly curious to know what I'll be like once I move out and get away from them. Perhaps my optimism can finally flourish... or be crushed under the stresses of adulthood :P

BUT!

I'd say that this Christmas was pretty good, despite my parents, with whom I have remained thoroughly unsatisfied for years. I got some wicked cool gifts, I got some completely out of the blue gifts (seriously why am I the person you're giving the tools to build stuff with), and I got a cool coffee mug that can join my Darth Duck mug. All in all, pretty awesome. There's also the possibility that this might not be it (however slim), since I will be visiting with all sorts of family next week. So - we shall see!

Anyway, that's all for now. I hope you all have a very merry Christmas. :)

EVERYONE I NEED YOU TO HELP ME THANK JMJ (+Smash Files 67)

JMJ is legend

I thought I was receiving a GCN Controller Adapter, not that and a special NYCC limited edition transparent Tahu Mask! *shakes fist*
But still!

I thank you very much. Now I can play Smash Bros. the way that it was meant to be played, and I have my first little bit of Bionicle 2015 as well! TBH I'm really excited about the mask because I didn't think I'd actually ever see one in person, let alone OWN it.

Now to fight the urge to open it until I can assemble all six 2015 Toa together.

This is gonna be tough. ;_;

Thank you again!

6 Years

Posted by Strange Festive Voltex , in BZP Library, BZPower, Smash Files, Games & Trivia / RPG Dec 22 2014 · 137 views

So. I have been on BZPower as a member for six years. First off, to celebrate, here is a little something for Extermination.

I thought I'd go over some of the milestones from the past six years in this entry, that way I can never do it again.

2008
-I joined the site on December 22. Obviously.

2009
-In January I released my first comedy, Vultraz's Diner. To this day, the character Vultraz is near and dear to my heart.
-I entered my first contest on BZPower (a BBC contest), and obviously did not win. MOCs are not my strong suit.
-I also played The BZPower Challenge 2 in the Games & Trivia forum, almost a year and a half before I would return to the forum to play any of the Mafia games.

2010
-I joined the Comedies Critics Club.
-I changed my name for the first time (I don't count my name change in 2009), and I have been swapping names ever since.
-I hosted my first Mafia game, Bionicle Mafia 31: Mind Games. It was a disaster.
-I released Tahu vs. Tahu - my crowning achievement in the Comedies forum. While I might have started my career on BZPower with Vultraz's Diner, it is Tahu vs. Tahu that is nearest and dearest to my heart. Even now I long to bring it back, and if I can find a way to make it work with a new storyline taking place in 2015, then I will. I absolutely will. It actually released on December 19th - whether it is coincidence or not, 19 is my favorite number.

2011
-I helped to host the first (and last) ever Comedies Awards.
-Tahu vs. Tahu landed on the Hot Topics list several times.
-I became a premier member, and got my blog.
-The forums went offline for six months; when they returned, I was one of the members who returned - and actually stayed.
-I became interested in MLP right in the middle of the MLP craze, and was inspired to create three horrible, horrible display names. Ugh.

2012
-I finally hosted another Mafia game; Mafia III: The Cult. It would go on to be the first in a "Mafia III" series that has, so far, lasted four games.
-I revived the Comedies Critics Club, taking charge.
-I released How to Be a Hero, my second-most popular comedy after Tahu vs. Tahu. It eventually sort of quietly died off thanks to a lack of updates from myself, and the topic is just a mess now thanks to the coding errors that hit BZPower around this time last year. I had always wanted to re-write it in prose, but I don't really see the point anymore. It'd be too much time that I could spend on something else.
-I completed Tahu vs. Tahu after four seasons and almost two years;I should have left it at that. Regretfully, I allowed myself to follow through on the horrible idea of a sequel; The AfterWords was released that December. The AfterWords eventually ended after two seasons and less than a year, although the last few chapters were lost in the October 2013 Hacking and have not been reposted. I consider The AfterWords mostly non-canon.
-I also helped to organize the first (out of two) Comedies "Expos", where authors gathered to tease projects that they were working on.

2013
-I hosted Bionicle Mafia III: By the Numbers, which until very recently had the fastest signups in Mafia history.
-I started the Smash Files blog post series, detailing my thoughts on all news and other information regarding Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U.
-Together with Portalfig, I co-hosted the Darkest Days Trilogy of Mafia games, celebrating the fact that Bionicle Mafia X: Darkest Dawn was the 50th main series Mafia game on BZPower. It was also the first time anyone had co-hosted a Mafia game since Mind Games.
-Portalfig and I also did most of the work on the BZP Mafia Wiki, although it has since become outdated thanks to a lack of updates.

2014
-I got featured on the front page for two of my epics (Isolation and Extraction), which is very cool.
-I became a POBZPC, earning the orange (and promptly changed my name to "Sir Voltex the Blue" just to confuse everybody). The name change did its job quite nicely.
-I finally relaunched Bionifight as Bionifight Ultimate; it is the largest topic in Games & Trivia, and the biggest game in the series.
-I hosted Bionicle Mafia XIX: The Voltex Constant, which beat By the Numbers to hold the NEW record for the fastest signups in Mafia history.
-I also feel like this year, I became more active in the larger community of BZPower itself, rather than just sticking to one or two subforums like glue; I've popped in all over the place.

2015
-What is coming? Well... I will admit that I've never hosted an RPG before..... ;)

guess what arrived today :D (Smash File 66 oh god)

It is so beautiful

Even better, though, is that I still have two days to return the black controller to EB Games and get a refund from them! Everything is working out, huzzah! This is also the part of the show where I publicly thank JMJ for the GCN adapter that he's sent to me, even though it hasn't arrived yet (whenever it does there will, of course, be an entry to celebrate the momentous occasion).

Anyway, that's all for now!

The Nintendo Conspiracy is slowly being overcome!

a small preview

Posted by Strange Festive Voltex , in BZP Library Dec 17 2014 · 102 views

From Chapter 1 of EXTERMINATION:

Something was not right.

“Hey, you! What’s your name?!”

Voltex turned at the sound of the voice – a Ko-Matoran wearing a black cloak and dragging a massive scythe four times his size behind him. There was only one Matoran in Metru-Nui that would carry around a weapon that obnoxious….

“Is that you, Voxumo?” Voltex asked, coughing as he stood to his feet, leaning on the receptionist desk before him.

“It is,” the Ko-Matoran said, eyes glinting. His armor was stained a light gray. “And you are?”

“Voltex,” the Ba-Matoran said, confused. “I was… don’t you remember me?”

Voxumo shook his head, striding forward and pausing several feet away.

“Are there any other survivors?” Voltex asked, ignoring the feeling in the back of his mind that something was not right.

“A couple more are back there,” the Ko-Matoran said, pointing the way he had come. “They’ve decided to work together and search for survivors right now. You’re the first we’ve found, though.”

“That… makes sense?” Voltex replied, unsure.

Voxumo nodded. “You’ll also be the last.”

About to speak again, Voltex could only groan as Voxumo swung the scythe, catching him in the stomach with the tip of the blade. The Ko-Matoran yanked it out and coldly began to walk away, as Voltex fell to his knees, his world fading away.

“You’re doomed, Voltex,” Voxumo called back, his voice echoing strangely. “You just don’t know it yet.”
This isn’t right, Voltex thought woozily. It didn’t happen like this….

End of an Era

Shown above is the Games & Trivia forum, listing the topics with the highest number of posts. Since 2011, when the forums first returned under this new look, Bionifight 4 has reigned as the topic with the highest number of posts, surpassed only by Bionifight Ultimate.

As you can see above, Bionifight 4's time has come to an end; soon, the Bionicle Last Letter Game shall receive the two posts required to pass Bionifight 4.

Truly, it is the end of an era. And yes, I secretly hope that the last letter game will for some reason be closed before it can overtake Bionifight Ultimate. :P
