E3: BEAUTIFUL Box Art (Smash Files 38)

Look at this stuff

I like them both a lot, but I do have a few complaints:
-Brawl had eleven characters on the cover (I think?). Smash 3DS has eleven characters on the cover. Smash Wii U has... ten. Considering their paired nature, this really bugs me. If anything, the Wii U version should showcase more characters, but I think they should just be equal in count.
-Fox and Luigi both got screwed over times two.
Things I like enough to make note of:
-Samus being front and center of the Wii U box art instead of Mario or Link; it's very refreshing.
-Villager gets on both!
-Wii Fit Trainer's art on the cover is her official art, rather than being a special render just for the box art. I think it's funny that the creators were just lazy with one character.
Anyway, that concludes this "E3 2014" series of posts. I do really like the box art for both, although I think Brawl still has the best cover art of the series.

E3: Pac-Man sucks (Smash Files 37)

E3 2014 - Pac-Man Profile
Posted Image
Species: ???
Series: Pac-Man
First Appearance: Pac-Man (Arcade, 1980)

Favourite Appearance: Any arcade-style Pac-Man game
Party: 3rd
Known For: Revolutionizing gaming, not transferring to 3D well, being a terrible new addition to Smash.
Excitement Factor: 2/10 - I think we all knew (or suspected) that Pac-Man would end up in the game when it was announced that Namco was assisting in development. That does not mean that I like it, or that I even wanted it. I would take Agnes Oblige instead of this stupid person any day.

E3: What the heck is this? (Smash Files 36)

E3 2014 - Amiibo
That is "Amiibo"... or "amiibo". Does it matter?
Nintendo, as announced a few days ago at E3, is finally following in the footsteps of Activision - releasing toys that can be used as characters in-game. To boot, the first series of figures are launching alongside Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and I can finally begin collecting Nintendo figures for mere display purposes (it's gonna be an awesome display though I swear).
Honestly for me, being able to use these things in various games is just a bonus. Speaking of using them in games, Nintendo has announced that Mario Kart 8 will be making use of the Amiibo figures as well. I can only imagine how the heck it'll work in that game though.
Below is an image of (I believe) all of the figures that will be included in the first series. The lack of Luigi here upsets me.

E3 2014 - Palutena Profile
Posted Image
Species: Goddess
Series: Kid Icarus
First Appearance: Kid Icarus (NES, 1986)

Favourite Appearance: Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Wii, 2008)
Party: 1st
Known For: Ruling Skyworld, being the goddess of Light, giving Pit the power of flight

Excitement Factor: 7/10 - Honestly, I would be more excited to play as here if it weren't for the fact that this has almost assuredly guaranteed that the Eggplant Wizard will not be added to the roster. And that, my friends, is the saddest thing of all (because turning opponents into eggplants as a final smash would be totally awesome).

Silly Marth! Palutena is no damsel that needs saving!
Stay tuned tomorrow for E3 2014 Part 3!

THE BODY IS READY! (Smash Files 34)

E3 2014 - Mii Profile
Posted Image
Species: Human?
Series: Any
First Appearance: Wii Sports (Wii, 2006)

Favourite Appearance: Mario Kart 8 (Wii U, 2014)
Party: 1st
Known For: Being your Nintendo avatar, having three classes, showing off motion controls, playing sports, infiltrating Mario Kart

Excitement Factor: 10/10 - Like seriously, I've always been kinda 50/50 about adding Mii as a fighter (like how would it even work), but Sakurai has worked his magic once more. This is perfect and I can't wait to try all three classes out.

And suddenly the Miis realized that they were not, in fact, in Tron.
STAY TUNED! I'll have a couple more entries in this "E3 2014" mini series of Smash Files in the next few days (read: daily).

Roosterteeth is finally moving forward with a feature length film, and the bigger this is the better it gets!
In other news, they also started production on Day 5 this week (finally, they filmed the trailer back at RTX 2012), and hopefully we'll get to see something of that by the end of the year.

Well this is a thing

RETRO SALVATION (Smash Files 33)

Behold this glorious beast:

That's right - it has been announced that Super Smash Bros. 4 will be playable using the almighty Gamecube controller! Let us all bow down and praise Lord Helix, for truly he has delivered us a wondrous thing. Also, if that picture is any indication, we will not only be able to use Gamecube controllers... but Nintendo might be releasing special Smash themed brand new Gamecube controllers as well!
While it might not be the standard controller of the console (although if Nintendo truly loves us they will make it so with their next console), it is nice to see Nintendo acknowledging that the GCN controller is the best of their arsenal.
The only way this announcement could have been better is if they had announced Agnes Oblige as a new character in the game alongside it.
