Storm Troopers Party Rocking

Posted by Lucina , in To Disney May 27 2012 · 114 views

To Disney, Day 7: Storm Troopers Party Rocking
We went to Disney’s Hollywood Studios today, and it was definitely my favourite park of the four. The big points will be listed below, but we did catch the Star Wars weekend, and that was awesome.
  • We walked into the park and two storm troopers were on the roof, chatting comedy about us all- it was hilarious. :P
  • The Indiana Jones stunt show was spectacular, and I wish it could’ve lasted longer.
  • Star Tours was seriously awesome and the store was pretty sweet.
  • In that same store I built myself a purple lightsaber, and my brothers each built one of the other colours. I’m hoping if we return tomorrow to maybe work together to get a dual bladed lightsaber, since that would be sweet to use.
  • Muppets 3D Vision was very funny, and I thought the fountain in front was pretty cool.
  • We missed the Chewbacca photo, but I did get a picture of me riding the speeder that was set up there.
  • We went on the Backlot Studio tour, where we saw more special effects. I liked it.
  • I waited in line for an hour to get a picture with Darth Vader. It was awesome.
  • We went on the Tower of Terror and the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, and they were both very fun rides (although the roller coaster was far too short).
  • MY PARENTS AND BROTHERS WERE SO IMPATIENT ABOUT WAITING IN LINES AND WAITING FOR DINNER THAT WE MISSED JANGO FETT, BOBA FETT, THREE STORM TROOPERS, R2-D2, C3PO, LUKE SKYWALKER, DARTH MAUL, CHEWBACCA, A TUSKEN RAIDER, AND OTHER STAR WARS CHARACTERS FOR PHOTOS... WHYYYYYYYYY
  • Went into the Darth’s Mall that was set up for Star Wars weekend and I got a Darth Maul/Darth Duck vs. Obi Wan Kenobi/Mickey Mouse t-shirt, and it is the best shirt ever. I also got a picture with Princess Leia.
  • I had pizza at Pizza Planet for dinner.
  • I learned how to draw Goofy, but my drawing was too stubby.
  • I caught the last five minutes of a massive Star Wars dance performance at the Fantasia Sorcerer’s Hat stage, which I’ll be uploading to the web as soon as possible. You know where to look- I’ll call it “Star Wars Danceoff”, and it’ll be by some guy called ibrow. Go figure. Also, storm troopers were party rocking at the end along with jedi, bounty hunters, and Darth Maul.
  • Got pictures with Woody and Buzz Lightyear, and let me tell you, they were pretty chill. I’m considering giving them the moniker of “seriously awesome”.
  • Went on the Greatest Movies tour ride to finish the night, and I enjoyed it.
  • Also, I saw squeaky fluffy penguin toys of the Penguin guy from Toy Story 2. Should I buy it?

The Hippopotamus Pool

To Disney, Day 6: The Hippopotamus Pool

So today we went to Animal Kingdom, and let me tell you, I’m fairly certain you were all lying to me all along. :P That is to say, I think Animal Kingdom might have been my favourite park. Is it worth a second visit? Probably not. Anyway, key points of the day:
  • I went on Expedition Everest five times throughout the day, four of them being in a row. That roller coaster is wicked.
  • The river raft thingy ride was pretty sweet and I did it twice; the first time I got completely soaked and was thus wet the entire day. As soon as I got dry I did it again.
  • The Dinosaur time travel ride was awesome, but I only did it once. Still, Disney once again worked their technology magic.
  • I got a bunch of character photos today, so my time here is officially complete- I got Pluto, Goofy, Donald (!!!!!!!!!), Goofy again, Daisy, Mickey, and Rafiki. It was pretty sweet.
Anyway, that’s the day in short- Hollywood Studios tomorrow!

I Screamed Down A Tunnel With Sharks

To Disney, Day 5: I Screamed Down a Tunnel with Sharks

Today we had a day off from the amusement parks, so we went to Typhoon Lagoon. I feel kind of bad saying I enjoyed it more than I enjoyed the parks, since it wasn’t even in our original game plan, but I just felt that the parks had too much walking for how many rides we did. I don’t mind waiting in line, but having to walk fifteen minutes to get to a ride is too much.

That said, I went in the wave pool off the bat and it was pretty nice. After that I went to the right of the entrance, and did all three of the Storm Slides. Middle one with the tunnel be the best.

After that I actually did something I’ve never done before, which was the Humunga Kowabunga- I will say that the first time I screamed. That’s heightophobia or whatever it’s called for you. I did it twice more though, and each time was better than the last.

I did the Castaway Creek to return to the wave pool for a quick snack, before going over to the Shark Reef- that was totally wicked! I’ve never done anything like that before either. There was a giant salt water Angelfish at one point that swam up right beside me from behind, which freaked me out a little. XD

I did the Crush ‘n’ Gusher three times (once each slide) before it was time to leave- as such I missed all three of the “Falls” rides. However, the Crush ‘n’ Gusher was good too.

It was definitely the best time I had, although I’m attributing most of that to being able to hop in pools of water while it was scorching outside.

I Fell Off A Cliff

Posted by Lucina , in To Disney May 25 2012 · 95 views

To Disney Day 4: I Fell Off a Cliff
Since I came in after midnight yesterday, I’m writing/posting it now. Expect Day 4 tomorrow morning (hopefully). Anyway, time to switch to current perspective!

Today we went to the Magic Kingdom, and I have to say, it was a whole wack of highs and lows. The first thing we did was to leave the park by doing a round trip on the Monorail, which was pretty sweet. A little slow, but I’m glad we did it.

After finally getting into the park, we split up and my group went to Tomorrowland, which was probably my favourite zone of the entire park, and I only actually did three of the rides there. We went on the People Mover, which was relaxing and a brilliant way to start the day, as we got a tour of all of Tomorrowland while on the ride. Next we did Space Mountain, which I think is probably my favourite ride so far out of both parks. First of all, they planned the waiting area brilliantly; they had little video games to play while waiting, and lots of neat stuff to look at. The ride itself was thrilling, as you couldn’t see anything.

I didn’t do much in Fantasyland, other than to eat at some Pinnochio restaurant and go on “It’s a Small World” – a very relaxing ride, and since I wasn’t feeling great at the time I appreciated it even more.

I skipped Liberty Square until around 11pm, where I went in the Haunted Mansion. This thing is clearly the grandmother of all other haunted mansions, and although I’ll be honest and say I wasn’t ever scared, I was very impressed with it just the same. I won’t spoil anything for any of you that haven’t been to Disney, but the room at the beginning was hilarious and the trick at the end was pretty sweet.

In Frontierland the freaking Thunder Mountain Roller Coaster was closed- WHY MUST IT BE CLOSED TOO ARGH so I did the Splash Mountain (another brilliant ride) and the Tom Sawyer island exploration thing. I also bought a giant turkey leg there during the parade, which I barely ate half of. Those things are huge.

In Adventureland I went on the Pirates of the Caribbean, and it was another enjoyable ride. Disney’s technology for their rides is spectacular, and this ride was certainly no exception. The pirate store after the ride was pretty kickin’ to look through, and I almost bought the soundtrack for On Strange Tides before deciding not to.

I missed the fireworks thanks to Splash Mountain, but that was alright, because the bit I did see wasn’t as good as the ones at Epcot. In addition, we failed to visit Mainstreet due to time constraints (also it was pouring rain before dinner and it took us three hours to go to our cabin, change into dry stuff, and get back), so I DIDN’T GET MY PICTURE WITH DONALD DUCK WHY OH WHY DOES THIS WORLD HATE ME ARGH!!

However, my parents scheduled a character lunch on Saturday in the Animal Kingdom, so I’m hoping we’ll get Donald there. I swear, if we get some lame character like Minnie or Goofy (okay, so maybe Goofy isn’t as lame, but let’s face it, he’s no Donald Duck), I’m going to be mad.

I think that’s it for this lengthy entry. I just wish there’d been another Coke store with free pop samples.

EDIT: lulz fail it's Day 4 not Day 3

Fireworks Blew Up In My Face

To Disney, Day 3: Fireworks blew up in my face.

So I went to Epcot today, and it was pretty cool. Another quick one since I want to sleep, but I will mention that I’m a little creeped out because my brother and both of my parents are staring at my screen. Anyway.
  • I almost went to the Italian Pavilion for lunch, but I decided it was too expensive so I decided to go get a cheap-ish hotdog somewhere else instead.
  • I have a Disney Credit Card and I’m scared I’m gonna lose it or spend too much money. Mostly that I’m gonna lose it.
  • Almost went to the Japanese Pavilion for dinner (oh please no) but then it was full of reservations (huzzah) so I got chicken fingers instead from the worst place on Earth. The server kept trying to force out stuff onto some other guy, despite us telling her it was ours and the poor guy trying to refuse it.
  • Epcot’s lack of any real rides whatsoever disturbed me, and I was bored for the majority of the day. The sum of thrills or whatever was pretty kickin’, but I’m very worried about Hollywood and the Animal Kingdom. If I have to do anything but Magic Kingdom on the day we repeat a park...
  • Almost rode the monorail tonight, but missed a train so we’ll do that tomorrow.
  • Also almost got a picture with Donald Duck, but my parents told me to wait until tomorrow. >=(
  • I BETTER GET MY PICTURE WITH DONALD DUCK TOMORROW OR I WILL EXPLODE, I PROMISE YOU!!!!
  • The fireworks were awesome, and they set a pirate ship on fire.

I Forgot To Write Beforehand

Posted by Lucina , in To Disney May 22 2012 · 130 views

To Disney, Day 2: I Forgot to Write Beforehand

This'll be a short one as I go to bed in like, five minutes (still don't know which park I go to tomorrow, but my parents are controlling everything =( darn) but anyway, some notes on today:
  • Wrote nothing regarding comedies
  • I've been playing through Pokemon Black Version the past two days, and I must say, it is pretty brilliant. By golly, it took me an hour to beat that third gym, but that's fine. It's far better than Diamond at the very least, I love N. Unfortunately I can't save my file though, so I'm hoping I can beat the game before I lose it all, as I'm not playing through the game again if I can help it. :P
  • Sausage n Egg McMuffins are just as good here as in Canada (woohoo), as are Double Cheeseburgers
  • Waffle House waffles are huge
  • Honestly I can't really say anything else, I literally just played Pokemon Black all day. Although I did steal mouthwash from the place we stayed yesterday.
The cabin I'm in right now is pretty sweet, and we drove through North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida (obviously) today. When I return I'll post about the lisence plates of every state and province and territory (?) that I saw.

I'm Sitting In A Cramped Van

Posted by Lucina , in To Disney May 22 2012 · 192 views

To Disney Day 1 – I’m Sitting in a Cramped Van
As I type this we’ve been through eleven hours driving down from around Toronto, Ontario. We’ve been through the states of New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia, and we will be stopping in North Carolina tonight for blessed sleep and rest away from this cursed cramped vehicle. :P
A Quick List of Achievements Today:
  • I wrote Chapters 19 and 20 of How to Be a Hero
  • I wrote Chapter 3 of Tahu vs. Tahu
  • I refined the Season 4 finale of Tahu vs. Tahu
In the next four hours I’ll probably work on the *classified* for the *classified* of *classified* that might be publicly announced in the next few months.
For lunch we went to Taco Bell, and I was saddened to see that American Taco Bells evidently do not have the “build a box” menu option that Canadian Taco Bells have. However, I got to try a Dorito Taco and I must say, that was awesome.
I just finished having McDonalds for dinner- I was surprised to see that many of the items were far cheaper than in Canada. For example, we have a $1.39 value menu in Canada, but here in the States it is just $1. Also, the pies are like forty cents cheaper, and that is delicious. However, I got a McChicken meal (in Canada we have a bigger McChicken and the one I got is a Junior Chicken) and, to be frank, was disappointed. Reasons:
  • The chicken wasn’t spicy- not at all! In Canada all Junior Chicken sandwiches are spicy to a certain degree, which causes it to burn ever so slightly going down your throat. It is perfect with the mayonnaise within the sandwich, and without it the sandwich feels incomplete.
  • The buns were different- they were bigger and more chewy than in Canada, and I felt like that got in the way of my getting to the juicy stuff, which is of course the patty, lettuce, and mayonnaise.
  • The fries were pretty bad overall- this one I’m willing to consider just blaming the restaurant we went to, but they still can’t match anything I’ve ever had in Canada. In Canada the fries have far more salt than what I got today, which causes them to be practically melting with flavour. In addition, they tasted rather stale and several fries were either overcooked or looked like they were going bad.
However, this trip to McDonalds was not completely in vain, for I did discover that America has a bacon McDouble. Also, you guys have Powerade instead of Frutopia, and maybe it’s just me, but I find that to be awesome.
You guys probably won’t be reading this until after I return, but if that’s so a warning now: unless Disney wears me down more than I think it will, I am going to be spamming my blog with these things. xD

Turns out after this I had to sit for six hours failing to sleep while my parents did an awful job of finding the place we stayed at.

Cult Fortress Help

Posted by Lucina , in BZPower May 19 2012 · 147 views

It's like Mafia but with a Cult, and all nine Team Fortress 2 classes are included as roles. Except I need help on how I should work the Heavy, Demoman, Scout, and Soldier into it.

And any other ideas you might have are welcome too.
