They've been announced, which is simply spectacular. Now I have to go and actually play through Black or White. Ugh.

I want my Emerald remake!

There won't be an Emerald remake though; if anything, there'll be Ruby/Sapphire remakes, which, if we're lucky, might involve part of the Emerald storyline. But, unless they pull a page from GSCHGSS's book, and have the opposite cover legend be available after the postgame, it'll be more like RS in terms of getting the legends.

I have to agree with ET; especially if they make them full sequels.

I guess now we know why Kyurem had hidden data for a fire move and an electric move now. =P

Also, just curious, why haven't you played all the way through Black or White 1 yet? They're honestly among the best of the series.

It definitely shakes up the format, for sure.

However, Kyurem's new forms remind me of Digimon. This cannot be denied.

Also, we tend to get releases six months after Japan, so if they get em in June, we should get them in December, I guess?

Well, presumably they'll be released at the same time, but the two specifically have a June release date, and since America tends to get them ~6 months after, there should be a December release date for the two of them in the US.

Personally, I don't care when they get released. All I know is that this gives me more material to work with in RotR. :D

Also I will be the first to say that I actually like the Digimon resemblance. It's like an unofficial crossover between two of my favorite childhood hobbies. :P

Yeah, I'm guessing a December or so release in the states. The June release in Japan means there's just enough time that they could conceivably get B&W2 out in the states by Christmas if they go full steam ahead with the localization, and that's something they'll very much want to do.

Dorek: I meant simultaneous for NA and Japan, not that the two would be released separately. =P

GSR: True. They really should work more on dual launches, though, as if a game with a ton of dialogue can make it here approximately the same time as it releases in Japan,*cough Skyward Sword cough* they have no real excuse to not release this even 2 months earlier than they normally do. Maybe totally new text might be a problem, yes, however... they have 649 Pokemon names, countless attacks, and even flavour text translated. That's not even counting all the items already translated and with descriptions added. Unless they miraculously add new attacks, then even items aren't too big a problem, and then it's literally just the normal text to translate. Granted, since this appears to be a sequel more than anything else, it might take some more time; however: there's no reason that the localization couldn't start the moment the development officially goes 'gold'; and Gamefreak's preparing for the release. In that timeframe, NoA could use that to get caught up as much as possible, as well as importing the stuff already translated, for use in this. That would only leave any new Pokedex Entries that are added, new items, new attacks(Though I doubt that), maybe any new Pokemon if they really want to start hinting Gen 6 already, and the actual storyline text. And the latter is what would probably take up most of the time.

Granted, they also need time to hype everything up, but there's no reason they can't do what they managed to do just now, and start the hype more or less alongside the hype from the Japanese side.

Here's the deal:

For as long as I remember, the Pokemon games have released in yearly increments: September in Japan, Feb/March in NA. Now, for the first time, the games have exceeded a year between release. And we have numbered sequels. This is new.

I'm predicting synchronized release; I'm probably going to eat my words here, but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the games release worldwide alongside E3 2012 (June 5-7).

I'm psyched about this news. But my little brother isn't, since he's traditionally gotten the third version, and it looks like they're throwing him a curveball this generation.

Ddude: Well, at least you didn't say you're eat your shoe. =P

Also, just to say; the 'yearly release' thing has only been recent. =P Aka, Platinum, HGSS, and BW. =P

I haven't played Black or White yet because I simply haven't been interested. From my perspective, the plot honestly didn't look that much different from what I'd played 4 times already. With full fledged sequels however, it looks like we might be getting more original.

As for the Emerald remake, there are several factors that make me believe we'll get an Emerald remake. However, those are for a seperate blog entry.

We already got a totally different plot from normal... For one: The gym leaders actually *gasp* do something other than fight you! And then there's Plasma and everything else... I'm not gonna spoil the story, though, even if it's not Skyward Sword-quality.

You're way off base if you think the plot's just another reuse of the past four generations. The plot of Black and White is one of the main reasons people love them.

Well, as I said, I'm going to give one a go through. Not sure whether I want to play Black or White though, because both are at my disposal.

Also, the Pokemon designs are awful. And nobody can convince me otherwise. :P There are very few I like, one being Jellicent.

I've gotta agree that it's harder to find awesome Pokemon this time... But there are definitely exceptions(*CoughZoroarkCoughSimipourCough*).

Also, go for Black if you want to be a Hero of Truth like me, or White if you want to be a Hero of Ideals. =)(Or, wait until they release a few more details about the sequel; find out which really will be a sequel to what, and choose accordingly.)

Link to comment

It is harder to find awesome pokemon, but the awesome Pokemon I've found (coughJellicentcough) are the most amazingest Pokemon ever.

And what do you mean by Hero of Truth and Hero of Ideals?

Link to comment

That's very true. But, where you have those, you have a trash bag and a deluxe ice cream cone, of course. Probably not the worst Pokemon ever, but also not the most creative. =P

Well, uh, basically the two virtues correspond to Reshiram and Zekrom respectively. Let's put it that way. =P

Link to comment

Okay. I guess I'll do some research then. :P

There's also the factor of: Do I want to capture Level 5 Pokemon or battle Level 70 Pokemon?

Link to comment

Yeah, that too. You'll probably want Black if you want to battle stuff; however, if you have direct access to both, definitely do that. If you don't, then consider it some more, as you'll have to work to keep the extra trainers, due to Gamefreak overlooking the fact that not everyone can interact with the other versions outside of Wi-Fi here. =P

However; as a side-note; don't do too much research on the Hero stuff, it's kinda, err, a plot point. =P *Whistles innocently*
