E3 2014 - Palutena Profile
Posted Image
Species: Goddess
Series: Kid Icarus
First Appearance: Kid Icarus (NES, 1986)

Favourite Appearance: Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Wii, 2008)
Party: 1st
Known For: Ruling Skyworld, being the goddess of Light, giving Pit the power of flight

Excitement Factor: 7/10 - Honestly, I would be more excited to play as here if it weren't for the fact that this has almost assuredly guaranteed that the Eggplant Wizard will not be added to the roster. And that, my friends, is the saddest thing of all (because turning opponents into eggplants as a final smash would be totally awesome).

Silly Marth! Palutena is no damsel that needs saving!

Stay tuned tomorrow for E3 2014 Part 3!

I think Palutena's just generally a versatile character, especially with the way they've drawn her moveset from Uprising's special abilities. Eggplant Wizard would be hard to do, considering that his only attack in the series is so devastating (and that reserving it for his Final Smash would be lame). He'd work better as an assist trophy, because he's the kind of character who only does one thing but does it really well.

As a side note, Palutena and Rosalina (and Zelda, for that matter) are fairly similar in how they're primarily supporting characters in their own games whose attacks are drawn mostly from the hero's powers. Not that I mind that—it helps to even the gender ratio in Smash while providing an outlet for the abilities that would be incongruous with the main heroes' fighting styles or just wouldn't fit into already packed movesets.
