i'm still wondering what happened to the subplot where i was revealed to have cloned myself and actually been everyone the entire time

I'm wondering why Xaeraz loves giving away Sekkrit™ plot points. =P

I don't think we ever found out why the White Council hated the Ta but liked the Le. 

Where did that evil substance than infected Voltex and Xaeraz come from? Can it be beaten or destroyed?

 

I thought Voltex might have beaten it somehow, but for some reason my memory is fuzzy on that at the moment.

 

Could Xaeraz have overcome it if he lived?

That was actually one of the plotlines that I ended up dropping in between Extraction and Extermination; partially because I wasn't enjoying writing it, and partially to help make the latter more standalone. 

 

It was essentially just a shadow virus that was like the shadow leeches, slowly replacing any inner light in the victim with shadow - except with the added benefit of also slowly driving the victim insane. Voltex needed to assemble 3 or 4 Matoran of Light to activate a device that would purge the shadow from him, essentially killing the virus. This ended up happening offscreen in the year between Extraction and Extermination, buuuut since it was never actually expanded upon, I'm sure it could be explained with greater depth, detail, and drama in a short story or something =P
