what i'm looking forward to

The movies I'm looking forward to seeing in 2016 are, in order from most anticipated to less anticipated:

1. Deadpool

2. Suicide Squad

3. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

4. London Has Fallen (was originally on my 2015 list, but then it got delayed; this also makes it the only movie to be on two of these lists in a row!)

5. TMNT: Out of the Shadows (just to see the trainwreck... or if they can actually make it better)

6. Star Trek Beyond

7. X-Men: Apocalypse

8. Captain America: Civil War

9. Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them

10. Alice Through the Looking Glass

and yup that's my list

in 2015 only one of them made it onto my best of 2015 list (Mad Max) while five constituted my disappointments of 2015, and I never even saw two of them (because I heard Jupiter Ascending was awful and London Has Fallen got delayed)

That said, I feel like this year will be different. I'm fairly certain my top three here will at least be enjoyable, while I know at least one of my choices (TMNT) is purely to see the disaster that is surely coming. For 8-10, I hold little hope that they will be any good, and if my worries turn out to be true, I will be nothing but disappointed.

Welcome back Tekulo.

You should make Sir Quakers a character in the Lego Dimensions RPG. Along with Samantha.

EAT SYRUP!

-fires syrup blasters and throws pancakes-

@Fishers: I actually did that. However, it would appear it was not to be.

why would you look forward to suicide squad. it's going to be horrid.

because you are objectively wrong and it looks like the second best superhero movie of the year after Deadpool

Neither of them are superhero movies though...one is like...a superantihero movie, and the other, a straight up supervillain movie. it's the details that count

aside from the fact that their use of bohemian rhapsody automatically earns them points (plus bonus for making the trailer match the beats), it looks like a dark but fun romp, which is all I could ask for out of a superhero movie.

bohemian rhapsody is not like bacon, it doesn't automatically enhance anything. bohemian rhapsody is a bar you have to reach or otherwise you're wasting it. and suicide squad is trying to introduce over a dozen characters in one go to a brand new cinematic universe with nearly no prior setup for any of them. you don't make the avengers before you make iron man and captain america.

this is all of course ignoring the way they're making harley "crazy" for the edge of it in such a hamfisted manner, and the whole insensitive debacle of the joker "consuming" jared leto

GOTG did the exact same thing with the introduction of their massive cast not even two years ago.

It's pretty clear that Harley & Deadshot are going to be given more emphasis than the rest, and they will likewise receive more development; just like Star Lord in GOTG.

DC has yet to prove themselves incapable of handling a larger ensemble cast - unlike Marvel, who shot themselves in the foot with AoU. As such, I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt.
