Those of you who believe BIONICLE is returning:

Why do you believe that it is returning?

What evidence do you have, if any? Is it something you know? Because I doubt that, given the lack of any information regarding new themes.

On various other sites, I see people saying they know BIONICLE is returning. I'm sorry to say: no, you don't. That's just something you want to believe. Rumours are nothing more than rumours. We would all like it to return. But there's a thing we all need to do, and that's letting go of the past. BIONICLE had its time. Whether you thought it was good or bad during its earlier or later years is your opinion. I have not forgotten how vicious BZPower could be towards BIONICLE at certain times. I myself would be ambivalent to this rumoured, unlikely return. I would rather LEGO be creative and perhaps start a new constraction theme. One that is not expected to meet the standards of BIONICLE, because it is not and never will be BIONICLE, and that's a good thing.

We all like believing things. Sometime so much we end up deluding ourselves with false confirmations and high hopes that form only to be crushed... it's time to move on. BIONICLE's been dead for years now.

So why do people believe it is returning?

Most of the evidence that it's returning can't be discussed on BZPower because it's based on leaked information, and the sources of said leaked information. All I can say here is that both sources are trustworthy and have been responsible for accurate leaks in the past, which is enough reason for me to believe them to be genuine.

There are other hints that it could return which CAN be discussed: the removal of the leaked images from various sites by Lego (which they wouldn't have the authority to do unless they were genuine), the removal of the long-lived pinned topic in the Lego Message Boards about there being no plans for a Bionicle return, and a possible Freudian slip by Greg Farshtey on the Lego Message Boards (in which someone asked if he would be involved if Bionicle ever came back, and he gave the overly specific response that "he can't discuss 2015 themes"). None of these hints by themselves are sufficient to prove Bionicle is returning, but combined with the aforementioned leaks they suggest that Bionicle's return is indeed nigh.

If it does return, people are going to be so upset cause it'll be different than what they had years ago and won't live up to expectations.

And then everybody will be sad, Bionicle will fail, and Lego will be bought out by the competition.  And then fans will remember that BRINGING BACK BIONICLE DID THIS!

:P

Some people are going to be upset. That's a given. But there were disappointments with new BIONICLE sets that didn't live up to expectations before the theme even neared its conclusion, so I don't think it'll be anything the community hasn't been through before. Some people will leave the fandom for good out of frustration, some people will grumble but remain hopeful for the future, and some people will learn to appreciate the new BIONICLE even if it wasn't what they hoped for or expected. In the meantime, new fans will presumably arrive to pick up the slack, because there's not a snowball's chance in the Mangai Volcano that a BIONICLE revival will be successful if its success is dependent on older fans who probably would have grown out of BIONICLE by now anyway if it had continued non-stop.

One bit of information that I believe is OK to discuss here is that we know that work is being done on a new constraction theme for 2015 (due to current project listed on an Advance employee's resume, which has since been edited to simply say "a new LEGO theme" rather than giving any specifics). Whether that is a BIONICLE revival or a new concept entirely was not specified, but coupled with the other evidence, signs are pointing to the former.

idc either way, but it's fun giving into the hype and brainstorming what a better, future Bionicle would be like (or could be like).

the old theme was so riddled with its own problems and issues that it wouldn't really take much to top it in terms of quality, though like with everything there'd be people who'd make a public outcry about any changes because it's not the first generation they remember, etc, etc...

All the hype and excitement is probably because of the "leaked images" that are going around, and the little things that have been mentioned int he rumor topic like LEGO employees slipping up here and there. The pictures are very convincing, and new ones were "found" today and I am preeeettttyyy sure that, if they are fake, they have me fooled pretty well. It's a lot more "evidence" than we've seen before in the last couple years, and five years is actually a pretty decent amount of time for LEGO to potentially decide to give it another shot.

Besides, even if everyone is suspicious about it, it's sooooo much funner to be hopeful than to be a cynical bummer. Either way, you're gonna be disappointed if it doesn't happen, do you really need to be the person who yells "HA I TOLD YOU SO IM SO GLAD I WAS RIGHT?" I prefer to be in soul crushing agony when it gets officially debunked :P

Read the last 30 or so pages of this topic. That should provide all the proof you need.

Edit: forgot the link: potentially leaked

Edit: Since they won't let me post the link, just go to the Lego Action Figures forum on Eurobricks and find the topic that looks right.

Although I've fallen prey to the hype train, I do want to chime in and say that while all this is exciting, if it is returning, I will be kind of disappointed, in spite of being overall pretty happy about it.

I've been waiting for Hero Factory to end for about 3 years now, not because I dislike HF, (I like it a lot,) but because I agree, with you--I'd like to see Lego try a brand new constraction theme sometime.

I was very interested in seeing what new constraction things Lego was going to try next. If what they try next is going back to Bionicle, then, well, while I'll be happy about it, at the same time I'll be wishing for it to end relatively soon because I really do want to see Lego try something all-new.

Well, BIONICLE won't necessarily get in the way of something all new. If it's successful enough the LEGO Group might decide there's more demand for the constraction category in general and introduce something new alongside it.
