Instrumental Album Progress

Posted by Legolover-361 , in Music, Real Life Jul 28 2012 · 111 views
instrumental, music, electronic and 2 more...
Those of you who have read my blog in the past may know that a while back, I endeavored to create an instrumental album using only synthesized instruments. My plan is well underway; I currently have thirty-nine minutes of music assembled in a rough tracklist. However, those thirty-nine minutes are partitioned among twenty-two tracks, most of which are under two minutes long.

I'm planning to cut the less important tracks in the album, expand some of the remaining shorter ones, and give a last-minute polish to those tracks that need it. I've barely begun the process; I hope to have a release-ready tracklisting by the end of August.

If the above paragraphs pique your interest, here's some more information:

The album could be roughly categorized as orchestral / new age / electronic (and whatever genre movie soundtracks by composers like Hans Zimmer tend to be), and there are a couple songs that feature synthesized rock guitar. The work I've uploaded to my SoundCloud is just a taste; the majority of tracks on the album will be heretofore unreleased.

Pink Floyd, Dark Side and 1 more...
After letting Pink Floyd's album Dark Side of the Moon sit in iTunes for a few months, I decided to listen to it today.

I like it. I really like it.

Electronic Music

Posted by Legolover-361 , in Music Jul 24 2012 · 200 views
electronic, music and 3 more...
If you hear electronic music on the radio, chances are it's dance-pop. I don't mean to imply dance-pop is intrinsically bad; it just has no place in my musical tastes, partially because a lot of it sounds musically similar to my ear, partially because of its rampant overuse of Auto-Tune, partially because I tire of lyrics about clubs and flirting, and partially because I don't like dancing. It's a shame that those sorts of songs are chosen to represent electronic music on the radio, because there seem to be many electronic artists who make non-dance-pop music but aren't as popular.

The Postal Service is one such artist; their album Give Up is thoughtful and somber in a fashion a lot of popular technopop can't replicate. Port Blue, a second solo project by Adam Young of Owl City, makes thoughtful, ambient new age / post-rock. Linkin Park's albums A Thousand Suns and Living Things have placed the band firmly in electronic rock territory.

I'm looking for more bands and artists similar to those aforementioned. If you have any suggestions, preferably non-explicit and non-offending, do comment.

Of "Roundabout" and Minifigure Series 7

Posted by Legolover-361 , in Writing, Real Life, Music Jul 20 2012 · 104 views
Roundabout, Flash Fiction and 2 more...
On the way home from returning albums I checked out from the library a week ago, "Roundabout" appeared on a radio station that played oldies. I didn't even know Yes appeared on the radio anymore. :P Another Yes song started playing afterward, but I didn't recognize it.

When I came home, I was treated to my mother's surprised face when she found a package to a Legolover-361 in the mail. My prize for winning the Music category of the Flash Fiction Marathon -- for that was the package -- was a savage from Minifigure Series 7, complemented by two daggers and a monkey. Thanks again, Velox.

"Ⅽhristmas Lights" By Coldplay

Posted by Legolover-361 , in Music Dec 19 2011 · 43 views

This has to be one of my favorite Christmas songs. That piano tune is so memorable. I based a Pandora radio channel around this song and the resultant playlist is five times better than any Christmas radio station I've heard, so that makes me appreciate the song all the more.

if you were true fans to bionicle you would support it's return you are not fans if you don't want it to come back even if you followed the entire story and loved them and bought every set and had joined a website with a large fanbase for them and made tons of friends and talked about bionicle every day and then when it ended you moved on to hero factory and don't want bionicle to come back you aren't a fan then because you thought it was going downhill and didn't like every single little aspect of it and you don't want it to come back and you aren't petitioning lego like mad and throwing temper tantrums left and right and aren't carrying on bionicle's revolutionary legacy means you are all traitors to those who want their most favorite toy back we know our fantasy will come true because we are here we are waiting and we want our bionicle and if star trek fans had as a group said no point in talking about this anymore it's never going to come back it never would have come back and lego is pushing their poorly designed and overpriced hero factory in little kids faces bionicle didn't need it so we have evidence to prove that our toy line which we simply cannot live without is going to come back because we will hold our breath and storm denmark if we don't get our way which we will because we always get our way and get what we want even if it comes back in ten years we can ask for the entire new line of bionicle for our thirtieth birthday and when bionicle comes back we'll have plenty of money to buy them because we didn't betray bionicle and buy hero factory like you all did you annoying little black hearted meanies who call yourselves fans when you're not you stinky shoe wearing snobs who don't agree with the movement to bring bionicle back
