MΟⅭer's Block

Posted by Legolover-361 , in MOCing Oct 31 2011 · 207 views

Does anyone know how to get rid of it? I have a jumble of black Bionicle peices sitting in my personal Lego bin, but I have no idea what to do with them.

EDIT: I'll try to MOC Ena, substituting her golden Kualsi for a golden Hau, but I'd still appreciate some ideas and / or exercises to get around MOCer's Block if I have it again.

Raw-Ĵaw Review

Posted by Legolover-361 , in Writing Oct 30 2011 · 165 views

Man, that review was so off-the-hizzle that the hizzle was left alone and empty because the review was off it. It was so fun to read that I had fun. While reading.

I gotta get me that gorillephant. I mean, its picture is just sitting there all like, "Yo, m'man, come grab me at a store or somethin'." And I'm like, whoa, I just saw you in the store a couple weeks ago so I should've brought some money to buy you when I saw you in the store a couple weeks ago.

Review For Signs / Snowing!?

Posted by Legolover-361 , in Music, Real Life, Writing Oct 29 2011 · 198 views

I started watching Signs with low expectations -- the only M. Night Shymalan movie I'd watched before was The Last Airbender, which was (no offense intended) a train wreck. Perhaps this is a matter of relativity, but I think Signs is a good movie.

Six months after his wife's death, former reverend Graham Hess (Mel Gibson) and his younger brother Merrill (Joaquin Phoenix) find a large series of crop circles in their cornfield. Soon afterward, a series of strange occurances both on the farm and out in the world force Graham, his two children Morgan and Bo, and Merrill to consider what they had previously thought was impossible: alien contact.

This the second horror film I've watched (after The Others, which I reviewed here) that relies on subtlety rather than gruesomeness for scare factor; when confronted with the unknown, your imagination rather than logic fills the gaps in your knowledge, and films that make you think are often more satisfying than movies that just outright scare you. Another plus, I think, were scenes were I thought something was going to happen, but then my expectations were proven incorrect. The flashlight-dropping scenes seem cliche to me, but one scene that sticks in my mind has the lights go out for a minute, only to reveal an unexpected result.

I wasn't expecting any dimension of humor to the movie, but the humor included was laughable while avoiding ridiculousness.

While on the whole I enjoyed the movie and its main idea -- coincidences are often more than they seem -- there are cons. At times, the dialogue is rather unnatural, and I couldn't help but think the acting was a bit flat at points.

Postscript: James Newton Howard is an awesome composer.

On an unrelated note: snow. There isn't much, just a little dusting where the tree cover is thinner, but it's still snow.

Whatever happened to Global Warming? I guess the Second Ice Age theory is more viable at this point. :P

Makuta_Of_Οz's Grammar Lesson

Posted by Legolover-361 , Oct 28 2011 · 196 views

*searches valiantly for a way to reblog blog posts*

*finds nothing, hangs head in sorrow*

I suppose I can settle for the next-best thing -- quote tags.

Okay, let's begin by learning about the words "there", "their" and "they're".

  • "There" refers to place. Eg. "I live just over there".
  • It can also be used in such context as "There is no need to worry."
  • "Their" refers to possession. Eg. "Their lawn needs mowing."
  • "They're" is a contraction. It is short for "they are". Eg. "They're not heading to school today."
Now, next up is the difference between "your" and "you're".
  • "You're" is another contraction, meaning "you are". Eg. "You're wasting my time."
  • "Your" refers to possession, just as "their" does, except the item belongs to you. Eg. "That's your problem."
  • Only use "you're" if you mean "you are". DO NOT use "your" in this case.
Next, we will learn about "to", "too" and "two".
  • "To" expresses motion regarding a destination. Eg. "We are heading to the shops."
  • "Too" means to a higher degree than someone or something can handle. Eg. "This boulder is too heavy for me to move."
  • "Two" is the number 2. Eg. "People even get this confused with the other two words sometimes."
Finally, we will learn the difference between "lose" and "loose".
  • "Lose", pronounced "LOOZ", is the opposite of "find". Eg. "I hope I don't lose my watch."
  • In some cases, it is also the opposite of "win". Eg. "Unless we do something we're going to lose the match!"
  • "Loose", pronounced "LOOSS", is the opposite of "tight" Eg. "If we don't fix this loose screw, the whole machine may fall apart!"
Thank you, and that's our second-grade English lesson for today. I hope no-one will get these simple words confused ever again.

I have a good idea based off the title Ignition: A scientist attempts to create sentient life, but meets difficulties powering it up. Of course the actual story will be far more in-depth; this is just the premise floating around in my head.

Hopefully I can find time to enter between homework and NaNoWriMo.

Quoteworthy Forum Quotes

These are quotes that I have, for the most part, painstakingly collected asked other people to supply in this blog entry. If you have any to contribute, post 'em there. And above all else, always remember:

"The problem with quotes on the Internet is that you can't verify whether they are correct."

I listen to people banging rocks together. Back from when music was GOOD.

if you were true fans to bionicle you would support it's return you are not fans if you don't want it to come back even if you followed the entire story and loved them and bought every set and had joined a website with a large fanbase for them and made tons of friends and talked about bionicle every day and then when it ended you moved on to hero factory and don't want bionicle to come back you aren't a fan then because you thought it was going downhill and didn't like every single little aspect of it and you don't want it to come back and you aren't petitioning lego like mad and throwing temper tantrums left and right and aren't carrying on bionicle's revolutionary legacy means you are all traitors to those who want their most favorite toy back we know our fantasy will come true because we are here we are waiting and we want our bionicle and if star trek fans had as a group said no point in talking about this anymore it's never going to come back it never would have come back and lego is pushing their poorly designed and overpriced hero factory in little kids faces bionicle didn't need it so we have evidence to prove that our toy line which we simply cannot live without is going to come back because we will hold our breath and storm denmark if we don't get our way which we will because we always get our way and get what we want even if it comes back in ten years we can ask for the entire new line of bionicle for our thirtieth birthday and when bionicle comes back we'll have plenty of money to buy them because we didn't betray bionicle and buy hero factory like you all did you annoying little black hearted meanies who call yourselves fans when you're not you stinky shoe wearing snobs who don't agree with the movement to bring bionicle back
