So I beat Super Metroid for the second time ever today. Sadly, it was only at 94%. I looked everywhere for the remaining items that I was missing, but I couldn't find them. I know I could've looked up where they were, and I did that for some of the ones I needed help finding. But I actually had been playing it on and off over the last few weeks, and I couldn't exactly remember which items I had and had not gotten already. And with my playtime going over eight hours, I figured it was time to put Mother Brain down and get the game completed.
I am a little saddened that I didn't get 100% in the game, but at least this gives me an excuse to replay the game in the future. And besides, I had a lot of fun playing the game. But I wanted to go ahead and move on to another game for now.
And that game is The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask for the 3DS. I got the game a long time ago, and I managed to beat the first two dungeons. But then I stopped playing for some reason and never got back to it. I plan to start over on it and finally complete it. I don't know if it will be at 100%, but I would like to at least try to get that percentage on it if I can.
I've only beaten two Zelda games in my time playing video games, and those were A Link to the Past and A Link Between Worlds. I plan to add Majora's Mask to that lineup, and hopefully I'll get enough free time to do so.
What is the most recent video game that you have beaten? And was it at 100%?
It's official, everyone. New Pokemon are coming to Pokemon Go!
Later this week, over 80 Gen 2 Pokemon will become available to catch in the game. The baby Pokemon of Gen 2 have already been available to be caught from catching eggs. But these will be catchable by throwing Pokeballs at them.
There will also be new berries as well as items that help to evolve certain Pokemon. I don't know much about them as of this entry, but more info will probably be released for them soon.
I've been waiting for this announcement for a long time. I still play Pokemon Go on a daily basis. Not to the extent that I did a few months ago, but I play it enough to get the daily bonuses. This, however, will most likely give me a reason to play it a lot more, and I can't wait to get back on the hunt for catching new Pokemon.
What do you guys think of this announcement? Are you excited that Gen 2 Pokemon are coming to Pokemon Go?
So has anyone else tried out the Pokemon Duel mobile game that came out not too long ago? Here is a trailer for it for those who don't know what it is:
I downloaded it about a week ago and have put a couple hours into it. I actually think it's kind of fun. I'm still learning how some things work, like how the cards work and how to evolve Pokemon. But I've liked what I've seen of it so far.
For those complaining about Pokemon Go only having mostly Gen 1 Pokemon, they won't be able to say that about this game. Pokemon Gen 1 through 6 are in this. I'm not sure if Gen 7 Pokemon are in it though. And even though the Pokemon are just figures, at least it has more than one Generation of Pokemon.
Plus, you can battle people online. I've read that some people have had some server problems with these online battles, but I haven't experienced any issues as of this blog entry. Also, I don't know if you can make a friends list to help you find and fight your friends. But regardless, online battles are there for those who want to have them. And for those who don't, there is a single player campaign of the game for you to complete as well.
Overall, this is a neat Pokemon game IMO. I've enjoyed the regular Pokemon games and Pokemon Go more, but this is still a cool name that I will probably continue playing whenever I have some free time on my hands.
Have you tried out this game yet? And if so, what do you think of it?
You know, I wasn't too excited for a fifth Pirates movie. I felt that there really didn't need to be any more of them after At Worlds End. Especially since the fourth one wasn't as good as the first three IMO. And while the first trailer for the fifth movie did get my attention, I still wasn't too excited for it.
Then I saw this new trailer.
Now, I'm really excited for this movie. The villain looks scary, Will Turner and the Flying Dutchman are back, and the scenes shown in it look gorgeous. Plus that Johnny Cash song works perfectly with this trailer.
Overall, this trailer has made me really to see another adventure with Jack Sparrow. Hopefully it will be a good one.
Do you remember the movie Avatar that came out back in 2009? The movie made by James Cameron that had the majority of its cast playing giant blue aliens named Na'vi on a moon named Pandora? Have you been wanting a sequel to said movie?
Well you're in luck then, as there are four sequels to this movie in development right now. Yes, you read that right. FOUR SEQUELS!
James Cameron, who made the first movie, has spend the last couple of years writing the scrips for these four movies, with the fifth movie's scrip being completed just recently. They are all going to be equally developed at the same time, with Avatar 2 being released next year.
I'm not sure how I feel about this. With the first Avatar being the highest grossing film of all time as of this entry, a sequel to it was inevitably going to be made. But four of them seems kind of excessive IMO.
I think that we should've only made two at the most back to back, similar to the Pirates of the Caribbean and Matrix sequels. That way, if the films didn't do as well at the box office as the first, then they wouldn't waste money making more of them.
What do you guys think of this many Avatar sequels heading our way over the next few years?
In case anyone wasn't aware, BZPGOT Season 2 is starting up in the Games and Trivia Forum. As of this entry, there are still a few open spots left in the game. So if you want to join in on the fun, now is the time to do so.
That is the name of the next Star Wars movie coming out this December.
The title most likely refers to Luke. At least, that is what I think it's referring to. Because Kylo Ren isn't a Jedi anymore, technically, and Rey hasn't been trained to be a Jedi yet. So I'm pretty sure this title is referring to Luke.
As for the name itself, I like it. It's simple, yet still sounds cool IMO.
So a new trailer for Logan was release today. Said trailer is below. I will note that there is somewhat of a spoiler in it for those who read the comics that involves one of the characters. If you want to see this film knowing as little about it as possible, then don't watch the trailer or read anymore. otherwise, let's get on with this.
While I liked the first Logan trailer a little more than this one, I still think this is a good one too. I think the biggest reveal in it is that the girl is Laura Kinney aka X-23. It was speculated that she was this character when the first trailer was revealed, but this one all but confirms it.
I'm interested in seeing what her origin story is, and how much influence it will take from the comics. Because in said comics, she is a 'clone-daughter' of Logan. I wonder if she will have the same backstory here, or if she'll just be a Mutant similar to Logan and that they just put adamantium on her bones. We'll just have to wait for the film to come out and see.
The other thing that really caught my attention was the fact that the X-Men comics exist in this universe. I'm not sure how I feel about them existing in these movies. But if people with powers actually did exist in the real world, someone probably would make a comic book based on them. So I guess it could make sense for these to be a thing in the X-Men movies. Again, we'll just have to wait and see what Logan does with this plot point.
And as with the first trailer, there is a red band version of this trailer out there too. While the violence in it is the same as in the green band, it does have some adult language, which is why I won't link it here. But you can find it on YouTube if you want to see it.
Overall, this trailer has made me even more excited to see this. Like I said, I thought the first one was better. But this is still a good trailer on its own. March 3rd can't get here soon enough.
What do you all think of this trailer? Will you be seeing Logan when it comes out?
I know this might be a few days late, but sometimes life just makes you delay stuff.
Anyways, a lot of info was revealed about the Nintendo Switch last week, and I liked a lot of what I heard. Many of its games look really interesting to me. Especially The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wind and Super Mario Odyssey. For the Zelda series, I've only played A Link to the Past, A Link Between Worlds, and half of Majora's Mask for the 3DS. So it would be cool to play another Zelda game, and BotW could be a good game to try. As for Odyssey, it just looks like it will be fun. Plus, I want to see why Bowser is wearing a suit.
I was also excited to hear that Minecraft and Skyrim were going to be brought to the system as well. I haven't play either of these games, and this could give me a chance to do so.
It does kind of stink that we'll have to play to go online with the system. But if it means that the servers will be better, then I can live with it. The other nitpick I have with it is that there wasn't a Metroid game announced in the line up of games. I know it was a long shot, but I still wanted to another Metroid game to come out. Hopefully we'll see one soon.
Overall, I'm excited for the Switch. I'm definitely thinking about getting it, though I know I won't be on launch day. The earliest I might get one is in the summer if possible, because I don't want to deal with crazy people trying to get it as well.
P.S. And if I do get it, I will get the one with the grey controller. I'm not a fan of the red and blue controller. It just doesn't look as good to me.
What do you all think of the Nintendo Switch? And are you going to get one?
So I finally got Mario Maker 3DS the other day and I've been playing it whenever I've gotten some free time. And I've come to one conclusion:
I'm going to need to play it a LOT to become good at playing these levels.
Seriously, I'm not that great at playing them. I've only done created levels that were marked as 'easy' so far and some of them I haven't been able to complete. And when I played the levels that come with the game, I probably lost 15 lives before getting to the first Bowser stage.
But I'm not complaining about this, as I've enjoyed the challenges so far and the feeling you get when you finally beat a level that's been giving you trouble. And while I haven't played that many levels yet, many of the ones I have seen have been really cool. I'm amazed at some of the stuff people have created with these levels.
I hope to one day make levels that people will really enjoy. Though I haven't started making any yet, as I want to get better at playing the game before I start making levels myself. But for now, I'm going to keep playing levels and seeing what people have made.
Does anyone else have this game for the 3DS? And if so, what do you think of it?
Note: if you have not seen Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and don't want to see spoilers, DON'T READ THIS!
Note 2: I wanted to type this up and post it last month, but I hadn't gotten around to finishing it until now. That's why this is late.
So Star Wars's first one-off story, at least one to have a cinematic release, came out last month. And while I did really enjoy it, does it hold up for the other movies? Here's what I though about it. Spoilers are beyond this point, just to give another warning.
1. A lot of new characters are introduced in this movie, many of them with names no one can remember. The two main protagonists are Jyn Erso and Captain Cassian. While I think they are interesting characters, I don't think they are as interesting as Rey and Fin were in Force Awakens. I know that this movie is a lot more serious than the other Star Wars movies, so the characters needed to reflect that as well. I just felt like more could've been done to make them pop out in their scenes.
The other characters are great though. Especially K-2SO. He has some of the best dialogue in the film.
2. The story is original, so no one can complain about it being a remake from another Star Wars movie. However, anyone who has seen A New Hope knows how the story will end. That is, the Rebels do get the plans for the Death Star. But the question is how they got them, and this film's plot explores that.
The ending of Rogue One does lines up with a A New Hope surprisingly well. I was impressed with how it set up to the first Star Wars. I definitely give this film props for that.
3. And speaking of its ending, the final battle in the film is one of the best in the Star Wars films. Rebels and Stormtroopers fights on the beaches with At-Ats walking around trying to take out the former, while the Rebels and Empires Space Fleets do the same above the planet. It's arguably one of the best space battle scene in a Star Wars film. It's really cool to watch.
4. There are characters from the other films in this film as well, both from the original trilogy and the Prequels. There are even a couple characters from The Clone Wars and Rebels that make appearances! But probably the character that most fans wanted to see again in the film is Darth Vader. He's really only in the film for roughly five to ten minutes across two scenes, but he easily has the best scene in the whole movie. I won't spoil it here, so I will say that it's probably the best Vader scene ever seen in the movies. It's that cool.
5. Probably the biggest surprise I got from this movie, for me, anyways, was the entire main cast being killed off. None of the characters introduced in Rogue One make it out alive. They either get shot by blasters, blown up, or incinerated by a blast from the Death Star. It's a bold move to make for a Star Wars film IMO, but it makes sense with how the story being told. So I applaud the movie for actually going through with it.
Overall, Rogue One is a great introduction into the spin off Star Wars movies. It does a great job separating itself from the regular trilogies but still feel like a Star Wars film for the most part. It hasn't replaced Revenge of the Sith as my favorite Star Wars movie, but I still really enjoyed it and recommend it anyone interested in these stories.
