Bonkle Posted July 23, 2016 Best reboot I can think of is Transformers: Beast Wars. It took a dying concept and really breathed a new life into it. Worst.... eh.... this particular blog has already had an incident about it, so I won't bring it up. 1 Quote Link to comment
Vorahk1Panrahk2 Posted July 24, 2016 The Coen Brother's True Grit improves on the 1969 film in every way, particularly with the solid acting and more thematic heft. It still has great moments of Coen Brothers humor, but gone is the cheesy nature of that film. Worst? I'm sure there are a few floating in the back of my head, but the one that comes to mind is the 2008 Day the Earth Stood Still. I haven't seen it since it first came out, but I recall finding a fairly shallow CGI spectale compared to the 1951 original. 1 Quote Link to comment
Jean Valjean Posted August 15, 2016 Oooo, let me think about this. Stuff that comes to mind are Star Trek, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, and Batman Begins, and The Jungle Book. The MacDaddy of them all would be The Wizard of Oz, which wasn't the first film adaptation of the book, but it wasn't a remake of those movies. First of all, the worst reboot is probably superhero related, like Fant4stic, although I haven't seen it. I've heard terrible things about Rollerball and Vince Vaughn's Psycho, but again, I haven't seen them. I think that making a remake of Birth of a Nation is one of the worst ideas I've ever heard. People hated the 1998 Godzilla, but as the first monster movie I ever saw, I actually liked it. I would say The Wiz, but as I mentioned before, it isn't really a remake of another movie so much as one of many adaptations of the book. Ah, I know: either Total Recall or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. One had absolutely nothing on the original, and the other was a reboot of a franchise that I never really liked anyway. 24601 1 Quote Link to comment
