So there was a brony panel at an anime/gaming con I went to last Saturday, and...

 

It wasn't very good. They said they'd be doing stuff BESIDES watching videos, like listening to brony music and trivia and stuff (and actually half the reason I went was to see if they would play music besides Living Tombstone and Eurobeat Brony because that was all they said they'd play so if they didn't I was gonna politely tell them that there are in fact other musicians [all those poor orchestral musicians get overlooked in favor of dubstep and stuff, not that there's anything wrong with dubstep but it seems no one ever remembers Makkon or Jeffthestrider]), but all they really did was watch episodes (and not even the best episodes, they were going through in order so they didn't even get to Party of One or even season 2), Friendship is Witchcraft, the .MOV series, and the Skaijo animations.

 

They asked beforehand whether or not anyone would be offended by the last two, since they're all kinda... mature... but really, everyone said no, and if anyone said yes they'd probably be kicked out so everyone else could watch, that was the kind of vibe I was getting.

 

Really, if you want to watch videos that's fine; I don't mind that much that I didn't get to rant about how my knowledge of music was obviously better than theirs. The thing is, pretty much everyone in the room had already seen all of those videos, and there are so many other videos out there that they could have easily added some cleaner stuff than those last two (which I'm okay with but really everyone who was there who wanted to see it had already and everyone who didn't couldn't really voice their opinion) and some videos not many people there had seen, but were still good.

 

Also even if the trivia were questions like "LOL WHO IS DERPY" it would have been more... involved. Showing video after video seems kinda lazy, especially compared to what they said they were going to do.

Well, Doug Walker was there, but I don't really watch Nostalgia Critic or any of his other stuff so it was interesting, but a lot of the references they were talking about kinda flew over my head. I guess it just wasn't really my thing; my interests tend to be on the less well known side anime-wise, and the only type of games that were there were tabletop RPGs and stuff (which makes me wonder why they made a Portal reference on the map if the only reason they made one is because they could).

 

 

They should have had Jeopardy-style trivia. Jeopardy-style trivia makes everything better.- :burnmad:

Ah. A good friend of mine and (inactive) BZP staffie was there, actually. She was mostly hanging out near a table that sold Adventure Time, MLP, and Homestuck keychains.
