Hero Factory TV show

Okay so i recently got interested in HF and found out they had a TV show. Okay I admit, I wasn't expecting much, but its seriously bad in my opinion. The voice acting is decent but the plot and characters are really bland. I watched all the episodes that I could get on ######. "Why did you do that if you dont like it?" you may ask. Well my friends, that is because it has this cute little charm to it. I cant really explain. Its like its so bad its good. I kind of like its corny lines, and while the characters are bland, they're not painful to watch or even like.

I realize its limited for characterization becuase its a kids show and the actual story line is weak any way. Nothing devastating can happen and I get that, but that doesn't mean we cant have character growth. The so called "veterans" do some pretty stupid stuff, while the rookies seem intelligent and immensely skilled. Whats up with that? The characters need to find something in them selves and put it to use on later episodes.

So any way, I find the show okay.

My head says 1/5 but my heart gives it a higher mark. Yeah, I am a 3 year old trapped in a 16 year old body.

What you opinions of it, if you've seen it?

Yeah, HF is pretty bad in writing and characterization, though OoF was actually pretty good.

The visuals are generally pretty nice, though.

Yeah, they have done well on animation.

There's some character development sort of going on in the background, from the looks of things, but you don't see much of it in just the TV show by itself. For instance, Natalie Breez was a very independent character intent on rejecting gender stereotypes in "Ordeal of Fire", which seems to have come out of nowhere unless you listened to the Hero Factory FM podcast where she laments the stereotypes she has to endure as a female Hero in an organization civilians associate with burly males.

That wasn't even the most impressive moment for me, though. What was impressive for me was actually in "Savage Planet", my least favorite episode perhaps due to its many corny and out-of-character jokes. In it, some people were surprised that Bulk was treated as a well-read character rather than the dumb brute who had been seen in previous media. But wait! On the Hero Factory website's "Confidential" page for Dunkan Bulk in 2010 (there's a URL for it in his instruction booklet I believe), it's revealed that he's extremely self-conscious about his slower mental processing than the other Heroes. In "Savage Planet" it's heavily implied that he started reading in order to break free of this image. The script handles this brilliantly. To paraphrase:

Furno: Hey, big guy! I could use your help over here.

Bulk: (slightly indignant)I'm more... than just... the big guy![/i]

Furno: I know. You're one of the smartest heroes of all of us. But right now I could really use the brute strength you were built for.

Of course, these moments of glorious character development are offset by more lackluster moments where characterization seems to shift without any indication why, as with Evo in Breakout. Hopefully future episodes don't continue down this path and continue to show Heroes developing in small ways with each new adventure.

Likewise you do see some great character moments even in the background. Watch Nex in the background of his debut scene in Ordeal of Fire to catch him trying to flirt with Daniela Capricorn and getting utterly rejected. Overall I agree with you. The show is nothing brilliant, but it's not painful to watch most of the time and if you pay close attention it can really make you smile against your better judgment. Not a show I'd enthusiastically share with my friends and family, but not something I'm ashamed to watch either.

Wow. Thats interesting about the off screen character development Aanchir. I'm not a massive HF fan and the show is the only real for of media that I have seen, and probably will see.
