Fictional Character Face-Off: Sonic the Hedgehog vs. Samus Aran

Posted by Phoenix Zero , in Fictional Character Face-Off Jul 15 2013 · 294 views

people wanted this so here
Sonic the Hedgehog was a blur as he made his way to Dr. Eggman's latest fortress. It was sorta boring for him actually, another day, another scheme to stop.

"If only something interesting happened..." he muttered to himself.

Meanwhile, a ship was descending down the atmosphere. Inside housed the intergalactic bounty hunter Samus Aran. An anonymous client had offered a very nice sum of money for her to terminate a certain speedy, blue hedgehog. Landing at the coordinates given to her, Samus noticed the creature described skid to a halt next to the ship. Samus smirked underneath her Power Suit and got out.

"So who're you supposed to be?" asked Sonic, slightly confused.

Samus turned around and shot off a charged shot towards Sonic, who dodged.

"Ah, something new. This oughta be good."

Inside the fortress, Dr. Ivo 'Eggman' Robotnik cackled madly. "Yes! Finally, I will be rid of that hedgehog forever!"

-------------------------------

So this here's a battle between Sonic and Samus, requested in the previous entry. I will now list the rules for the battle.

Both Sonic and Samus will have access to any ability or equipment from their games, such as the Homing Attack or Power Missiles. Samus specifically will be forced to switch between her various suits and beams, though attacks like the Screwattack can be used regardless of what is equipped. Sonic, as stated will have access to any move from any game he has been in, and will also have the ability to summon various powerups, e.g. shields, speed shoes. As per all battles, the battle will continue until one of the opponents is dead or incapable of fighting any longer.

So who do you guys think will win? Feel free to suggest more battles in the comments as well.

P.S. Please don't say "Use Smash Bros." As fun as the series is, they are not good representations of outcomes of a fight. I mean, I played Meta Knight in Brawl, but my more experienced friend won against me with Kirby.

Any ability or equipment?

Hyper Beam. Samus wins. :P

However, having played Super Metroid, I can't imagine how difficult it would be to consistently hit something as fast as Sonic. However, that's assuming there would be plenty of running room. Since it's in Eggman's fortress, and he somewhat stupidly provides plenty of running room, I would lean towards Sonic.

I think in order to beat Sonic, Samus would have to fight like Sonic would, using the speed booster and screw attack often. She'd have a hard time with the platforming, since she isn't used to that sort of thing. Of course, given the power of the only speed boosted jump I can remember from Super Metroid, she'd probably just hurdle most obstacles while using the speed booster. Plus, the Speed Booster can actually destroy enemies and weak obstacles, so perhaps she can overcome Sonic that way.

Because of his mastery of speed and his ability to maneuver easily, I'd say Sonic. Of course, if Power Bombs are as strong as Metroid: Other M described them, Sonic could be taken out pretty quickly that way.

You have to consider that Samus has a heavy suit of armor as well. with regenerating force fields. (Or at least that's the explanation I got.) I haven't played much Sonic. but I have played a lot of Metroid. At full power Samus is nearly unstoppable to anything but the most powerful bosses in the game.(Except maybe in Metroid and Return of Samus. Those games are a flipping nightmare.) It's just getting a hit on sonic that would be an issue. But with power bombs... And the speed booster is nearly useless here. It takes way too long to activate. And once it's activated she has all the agility and grace of a semi truck. This ones tough. I vote Samus because, ya'know, Samus. But it's not easy to pick a winner.

The armor doesn't seem to be that heavy. She jumps pretty easily, and in Other M it's depicted as an energy construct projected from the Zero suit.

That's totally unrelated, just thought I'd point it out.

As far as what is relevant, I think Sonic may be able to outrun a power bomb's blast, but like Samus, Sonic usually has to build up speed before he can really get going, although it takes less time than Samus' speed booster. And suppose Super Sonic shows up? So long as he continues getting rings, he's invulnerable that way.

I'm also assuming that Sonic wouldn't attack Samus directly, but rather knock down pillars on top of her, or something like that. Samus may not be vulnerable to hedgehog quills, but having a structure fall on top of her could do the job.

Hm... I haven't played other M... but I've heard its more of an armor suit with shields. And I'm not terribly familiar with sonic... hm...
