Kongu's Digital Path of Heaven - April Haul

Digimon, Kamen Rider, Bionicle

Oh boy oh boy oh boy!

This month's haul satisfies me tremendously.

First, I finally completed the Toa Mahri! :D Kongu has long been a gaping hole in my collection that I passed on so many times for really no reason. The Mahri were still overall pretty weak as sets, but Kongu's Zatth was always cool, so at least he has something going for him.

And then Omegamon... Omegamon, the most expensive D-Arts figure in the aftermarket bar none, at last reissued - the last D-Arts that's going to be released too under since it's been absorbed into Figuarts and Lucario releases next month under that label. Omegamon was one of the figures that made me want into this whole Japanese collecting scene since it just looked so darn cool and struck the right nostalgia chords. And it really does not disappoint. Despite being released early in the line, I think he's leagues better than any of the other Digimon (although as a quadruped, Metalgarurumon isn't exactly comparable and is still perfect). And all that chrome is beautiful.

Finally we have the figure that arrived in the middle of the other two, S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Kabuto... renewal version! I've had plenty of opportunities at the original Kabuto but passed for no real reason, and when this thing was announced I knew I had to have it. It's absolutely perfect. Seriously, you guys need to look up the sculpting process Bandai went through to redesign this new base body used for the new Kabuto (since I can't seem to find the blog post on it right now...). They started completely from scratch in mimicking the proportions of the human body and it worked to perfection. And there's a lot of cool pictures of it all too. He's going to make my Hyper Kabuto look pretty bad when I finally get them on a shelf next to each other haha.

So I continue to have absolutely zero luck in regards to Transformers (and to an extent Star Wars as well, since I want a Black Series Stormtrooper like no other...). Hasbro must just hate me haha. So much cool stuff is coming out and I've just not gotten any of it. :/ Although I managed to snag a Rhinox for retail off of Amazon that should be getting here in the next few days. Hopefully it doesn't suffer from loose knees too badly heh.

IBM @ Austin

Posted by Electric Turahk , in Work Apr 26 2014 · 170 views
Jobs, IBM, Stress, Moving
Hey everyone... I've been pretty silent here lately but have been checking in daily still. Just not a whole lot to say I guess.

I have been holding onto one thing though...

In March I received and accepted my first job offer - as a software developer for IBM in Austin, Texas!

I'm super excited to have such an opportunity given to me. Finally all of my work paid off... Even if I still haven't received anything else and I do feel somewhat pushed into a corner when it comes to my options...

Well this weekend I finally went down to visit the office and drive around the area. Oh boy...

I think I like the office. I know I like the premise of the product I'll be working on. My team all seems really nice. But they seem to be expecting a whole lot out of me and as a first job I don't know what to expect and it's making me incredibly nervous.

As for Austin itself... Wow it's hot here. And not even summer. Ugh. That'll take some getting used to. Also, the traffic is absolutely horrendous. And toll roads just to get anywhere?! Not cool. Worst of all and most importantly, I just do not have any idea where to live or what to shoot for. I think I'd want at least a 2 bedroom apartment just for the space but know nothing of neighborhoods or anything...

I don't have a car, furniture, or even know if my girlfriend will go down with me yet (I've not even graduated college to even look at these things!)... Yet half a dozen agents - and counting - that IBM has contracted for my move have contacted me for al of these details and more. It's stressing me out so much.

More than anything the distance is driving me crazy. I'll be so far removed from all that I know and love and it scares me. It scares me tremendously. I'll be moving into unknown territory in all ways. I still can't convince myself wholly that this is where I should be. But if I change my mind now... I have no other option. I killed myself with stress for just getting a job offer and don't want to go back to that... Not that this is much better right now. I'm scared, plain and simple, but I can't bring myself to just accept having nothing by saying no.

So I've got a lot to think about lately. A lot to think about that makes being a horrendously indecisive person a very bad thing.

(I didn't go stalk RoosterTeeth by the way... there'll be time for that. :P)

King of Vampire! - March Haul

Kamen Rider, Kiva, Galaxy, Asus and 1 more...
I love this silly thing.

Took another tiny dip into Rider roleplay (and want to keep getting Kiva stuff now, ha) and it's pretty cool.

But kept myself limited to that this month, especially after... I somehow busted my old laptop (which was barely a year and ahalf old) and had to get a new one...

As well as finally, finally upgrading my phone. Which I took this picture with, so can't exactly show. :P But it's a Galaxy S4 Mini. I'm still getting used to have only a virtual keyboard (gosh am I not good at using those), but other than that I'm loving it.
