Hip Action Figure of the Day: MEWTWO!

Posted by Electric Turahk , in Video Games Oct 23 2012 · 402 views

Collecting Pokemon
So some of you may have noticed me posting pictures in my haul threads of some Digimon figures. They're from a line called "D-Arts," which is all about highly-poseable, highly-accurate, highly-detailed action figures from games. The most popular sub-line right now is for Megaman, but they also have Persona characters and more in the line.

We haven't heard anything on the Digimon in a while, which is where my interest lies. But today, we may have gotten even better news...

They're branching into POKEMON!

D-Arts Mewtwo was just revealed and in my opinion he looks incredible. Just look at that articulation on his tail! :3 And the Pokeball Tamashii stage and Shadow Ball effect... And it looks like he'll come with a static Mew... Yeah. I'm getting this. It looks terrific.

No idea WHEN it'll come out... But I can't wait to own him.

Dude. Mewtwo.

Gen 1 for the win, man. All the memories.

I have to say, that looks pretty incredible. Are they making any others?

:kaukau: Woah. Woah. I'm glad you showed me this. If it's within a reasonable price range, I'm buying this.

I'm glad they chose a Gen 1 guy to start.

If they make others will depend on how well this one does, I Imagine. Mewtwo's the only one we know of right now.

It'll probably be around... Oh I want to say 4000-4500 yen. So $50-$55. This is a collector's line, after all...

OH MY GOD DO WANT.

Especially because you get Mew as well. Very nice.

Hopefully we get Mew... And even then, it does look like a static version. So a little disappointing there.

I'm only skeptical because when Wargreymon - the very first D-Arts figure - was revealed, he was shown with Agumon and Tai. We never got them.

But at the same time, classic Megaman is being released soon and he comes with Rush. But both are small figures... Mewtwo looks to be pretty big.

But we'll see.

Someone let me know when this is available. So awesome.

There's a toy show this weekend for Tamashii Nations. If we find out then, I'll be sure to post another entry. ;)

You'd rather have another lame statue?

I've been wanting figures like this since before I even owned any of the games. Awesome.

I'd rather they made an effort to make it look more organic. This is why I stick to mecha figures, the joints don't look so garishly unfitting

You... Don't seem like you'r familiar with these kinds of figure lines.

It's just not possible to make something seamless and articulate without using something like a rubber suit. Which is notoriously easy to tear, either through simple motion or deterioration - usually not even after that long.

But it wouldn't even look right in a situation like this.

Mecha figures have joint cuts and lines like this. They can just be made to fit into the design better given that, well, they're robots. They can look however you want them to. Organice figures are much harder.

Trust me, this is a good one. It's simply not at all feasible to make an articulated figure seamless.
