Game Seven Tonight

Posted by LewaLew , in Baseball Oct 28 2011 · 297 views

Not sure how it can top last night, but the pitching matchup is heavily lopsided towards the home team. The Rangers not only cannot afford to make the same mistakes they did last night, but they have to go above and beyond tonight.

Games like last night's are why I never switched my prediction from the Cardinals. Hopefully the Rangers will finally prove me wrong tonight, otherwise I'll be aching even more for the end of the Cubs' drought. Thankfully, I'll be spared the heart attacks tonight, if not the strife to come later (should St. Louis win), because I'll be at the local minor league hockey team's game.

Frankly, I'm terrified that I might have to go through the '06-'07 offseason all over again.

9-7, Hello Again

Thank the Lord my dad kept watching so I could know about Hamilton's homer.

Ugh. Too late at night to watch this garbage.

Stinkin' Cardinals.

7-5 Rangers, Half-Inning To Go

Posted by LewaLew , in Baseball Oct 27 2011 · 107 views

After a three-run seventh including back to back home runs by Beltre and Cruz (I guess he'll be trick-or-treating as a witch riding his BOOM-stick this year), the Rangers have the lead, but one of the great things in baseball is that Texas has to get all three outs. No clock to run down in baseball.

But yeah, let's go Rangers anyway. :P

4-3 Rangers, Halfway Through

Posted by LewaLew , in Baseball Oct 27 2011 · 214 views

In the sixth, the Rangers have the lead 4-3 in a back-and-forth game six in some more small ball, but good pitching recoveries by Jaime Garcia and a managing gaffe by Ron Washington has kept the Rangers from blowing this game wide open.

Right now, it's the top of the sixth. Let's go Rangers!

2-2 In St. Lou

Posted by LewaLew , in Baseball Oct 27 2011 · 137 views

After three innings, the score is tied with the AL Champion Rangers scoring using NL-style small ball and the NL Champion Cardinals scoring off of an AL-style two-run bash by Berkman.

Let's Go Rangers!

Reign Delay?

Posted by LewaLew , in Baseball Oct 27 2011 · 184 views

I hope so. Due to inclement weather, the Texas Rangers will send Colby Lewis to the mound for an opportunity at the first Rangers championship tonight rather than last night's originally scheduled date.

Let's go Rangers!

Rangers Win, Lead World Series 3-2

Posted by LewaLew , in Baseball Oct 25 2011 · 111 views

A wild ride down in Arlington leaves the Cardinals speechless and the Rangers a win away from their first world championship.

Game 3 was a 16-7 slugfest that went the Cardinals way, giving them a 2-1 lead and an excellent start to their roadwork in the Fall Classic, but that momentum was shot down in game 4, when Derek Holland shut down the Cardinals and Mike Napoli launched a big one off of Mitchell Boggs. Then on Monday, Game 5 provided an exciting follow-up to Holland's performance as the Rangers overcame Chris Carpenter from down by two runs to none, due to home runs by Moreland and Beltre and a timely two-RBI double by the Rangers' leading candidate for World Series MVP, Mike Napoli.

The next game is on Wednesday, at 7:05 CT from Busch Stadium on FOX.

Game 3 Tonight In The Lone Star State

Posted by LewaLew , in Baseball Oct 22 2011 · 127 views

After turning the World Series into a best of five with home field advantage for themselves, the Texas Rangers will try to gain the lead in the Fall Classic tonight at 7:00 P.M. CT.

And go Rangers! :smeag: (Awesome, the smeag emoticon is still here!)

Hi Ho, Silver! Away!

Posted by LewaLew , in Baseball Oct 21 2011 · 271 views

An amazing comeback in the ninth inning has the World Series tied up as the Cardinals and Rangers go down deepinthaheartatexas. The pitching showdown between Colby Lewis and Jaime Garcia was scoreless up until the seventh, when the Cardinals drove in the first, and seemingly the winning run. However, a bloop single by Kinsler in the ninth and some nifty baserunning by Texas allowed the Rangers to tie the game off of a sac fly by Josh Hamilton, and then take the lead off of another sac fly in the next at bat. With the Rangers having taken care of business, the 2010 Rookie of the Year for the American League--closer Neftali Feliz--came in and shut down the Cardinals in the bottom of the ninth, finishing a masterful theft of Game two by the Texas Rangers.

Today is a travel day, so no ballgame. Game Three will be played tomorrow at Rangers Ballpark.

Also Blackhawks snap Avalanche winning streak. :D

Howdy Folks!

I'm LewaLew, former BZPower RK, former Reporter, and former unofficial baseball blogger. Once, this blog served as the home of my primarily baseball-related musings. Now that I'm in college, I have little time for baseball and BZPower, so it sits here idle except for an occasional visit on my part. Please enjoy or cringe at what you read from my past, and if you'd like, go ahead and comment in the favorite baseball teams entry so that the next time a blue moon rolls around and I visit, I can add you to that content block.

Play Well!

Old Welcome Block

For those of you who don't know (which would mean everyone but Aho-Chan and Sumiki) the BaseBlog is beyond a blog, this is beyond baseball it's a blog that focuses on the great American sport of baseball. The idea of a baseball themed blog has actually been in the works by me ever since Super Bowl XLIV, when Aho-Chan posted a blog entry asking if anyone besides himself didn't care for the Super Bowl, to which I suddenly got the idea of a baseball-themed blog so I could talk about my favorite sport without waiting for someone else to post in the Official Baseball Topic in the Completely Off Topic forum.

Play Ball, folks.
