You know, originally I was not concerned about this. I figured that the pony thing was just a temporary fad that would blow over, particularly after the six month downtime. But then I find that it lives on. I'm not sure whether this is a weird symptom of withdrawal from BIONICLE or just BZPower madness manifesting itself in a more unusual way than is typical of this site.
Now, granted, I like a lot of little kid shows, but most of them are discontinued and I watch them out of nostalgia and for a few good laughs. For instance, I still watch old Carmen Sandiego TV episodes on video sites and Hub because I used to watch them and play the computer games when I was younger, and more recently I've watched episodes of Teen Titans, which I last saw in 2003. And then there's that LEGO thing, which just stuck with me from the start.
But the ponies are just weird. I know it's not because of nostalgia, because the show isn't old enough, and it also confuses me because the target audience of the show is the exact opposite of BZPower's main member demographic. I understand the weird fascination because of an allusion someone made to the episode of Arthur (Which is another show that trumps the Ponies) where everyone starts watching Love Ducks, but really, wearing it wherever you go becomes a little creepy after a while. Even Arthur, Buster, and Binky etc. stopped after a short while.
Anyhow, those are my thoughts. Perhaps everyone is just preparing for a career writing children's television shows. I don't know.
But I know until it's over, I'll be carrying a brony tranquilizer gun.
