Cards 3, Rangers 2

GRRRRR

At least Carpenter's out of the way. If Texas can win game 2, they'll be in good shape. If not, though, it may be a long offseason for me.

Game 1 Tonight In St. Louis

world series, rangers, cardinals and 6 more...
Get ready, people, the Fall Classic is here.

After upsetting the Phillies in the NLDS, largely due to the stellar pitching of Chris Carpenter, the St. Louis Cardinals have once more reached the World Series, and aim for championship number eleven. (I have the number memorized, thanks to the Cardinals fans living in Central/Southern Illinois.)

The Rangers, meanwhile, have shown that they don't need Cliff Lee by repeating as American League champions after never before reaching the World Series in their existence in both Washington, D.C. and the Lone Star State.

However, in spite of the offensive powerhouses playing on baseball's biggest stage, this World Series is predicted to draw fewer viewers than any World Series since 2006, the last time the Cardinals were in it. Why? It just so happens that no coastal teams are in it. Now, I know many of you are fans of the clubs on the coasts, but seriously, the Cardinals hold power over much of the Midwest, and Texas holds nearly all of the second-largest state in the nation. Yet the almighty Yankees were beaten in the ALDS by the Midwestern Detroit Tigers, the Philadelphia Phillies were shut down by the Midwestern Cardinals, and the preseason favorite Boston Red Sox crumbled and missed the playoffs entirely. In addition, all of the LCS teams were in the Central divisions except for Texas, although it is technically in the Central United States.

So here's a new issue for you guys to discuss besides bronies: Why do teams not based on the coasts get so little respect, even when they make it to baseball's biggest stage?

World Series

You guys know ought to know which teams are in it, I don't need to tell you.

My prediction is the team not named Rangers in six.

Now if you don't mind, I'll go away and mourn my misfortune.

Nobody knows the trouble I've seen.
Nobody knows the sorrow...

Congratulations to the Texas Rangers for returning to the World Series for the second straight year.

BTW, if St. Louis wins the NLCS, don't expect congratulations from the BaseBlog for that. :P

That Season Went Faster Than Ricky Henderson!

Posted by LewaLew , in Baseball Oct 13 2011 · 210 views

Hey folks. Been a while. A long while. So long that the last article I had included mentioning Carl Crawford. He's not even relevant now, which is probably the reason the Bo-Sox are watching the Postseason from their couches rather than the diamonds. So I guess it's time to head into recap mode while I watch the Brew Crew tie the NLCS versus them stinkin' 'Birds. (Wish I had SPIRIT do one of them speedy, high-pitched voice "WE WIN" videos to give me a hand.

Pre-All-Star Break:Yo the injuns are winning and the red sox stink o but wait now the red sox are dominating again and twins are garbage and look the pirates are in first and the cubs are still bad and pirates are first place WAT!?

Post-All-Star Break: The world goes back to normal as the pirates lose but then it falls apart again as the dbacks win and red sox and braves fall apart epically like cotton candy in my mouth and stinkin cardinals win and so do awesome rays and rangers and yankees and phillies and tigers all win.

NLDS: Okay Phillies are gonna clobbernate and so are yankees but ow there goes the phils and YUS the yanks lose but rays and dbacks also lose.

There. Now that you know what went on this year, here's my prediction for the World Series:

STL vs. DET (DET is on my prediction because it's the team I chose before Texas was up 3-1.

Gimme your thoughts...

and all your widgets.

Howdy Folks!

I'm LewaLew, former BZPower RK, former Reporter, and former unofficial baseball blogger. Once, this blog served as the home of my primarily baseball-related musings. Now that I'm in college, I have little time for baseball and BZPower, so it sits here idle except for an occasional visit on my part. Please enjoy or cringe at what you read from my past, and if you'd like, go ahead and comment in the favorite baseball teams entry so that the next time a blue moon rolls around and I visit, I can add you to that content block.

Play Well!

Old Welcome Block

For those of you who don't know (which would mean everyone but Aho-Chan and Sumiki) the BaseBlog is beyond a blog, this is beyond baseball it's a blog that focuses on the great American sport of baseball. The idea of a baseball themed blog has actually been in the works by me ever since Super Bowl XLIV, when Aho-Chan posted a blog entry asking if anyone besides himself didn't care for the Super Bowl, to which I suddenly got the idea of a baseball-themed blog so I could talk about my favorite sport without waiting for someone else to post in the Official Baseball Topic in the Completely Off Topic forum.

Play Ball, folks.
