30 Clubs--30 Days; Prince Al Vs. The 'birds, Comic Caption

Posted by LewaLew , Feb 16 2011 · 266 views

Firstly, the final Comic Caption winner of the '10-'11 offseason: Xidash. Expect comic captions to return after the 2011 World Series. BTW, Sumiki and Legolover-361 tied for first in the CCCs with 3 wins apiece.

Secondly, as Spring Training rolls on in, so does some new features to the BaseBlog. First, is a new name: BaseBlog: Spring Training, and secondly, 30 Clubs in 30 Days.

30 Clubs, 30 Days is a ripoff based on MLB Network's 30 Clubs in 30 Days preseason television show, which starts on March 3 with the Detroit Tigers in Lakeland, Florida, home of the Lakeland Flying Tigers A+ minor league affiliate of the Detroit Tigers. My version of 30 Clubs in 30 Days, however, will include a daily blog entry about each MLB team, in preview of the 2011 season. However, to make it more interesting, which team I write about first will be up to the BZPers. I will match up two teams daily (preferably rivals) and you can vote for which one you want to read about most. To start off, I'll pit the World Champion San Francisco Giants against their longtime rivals--even when they were on the other side of the nation--the Los Angeles Dodgers. Vote by commenting in this entry.

Finally, some news on Albert Pujols. Today was his deadline for the Cardinals to try to sign an extension with him, but no agreement was made, and now the Cardinals will only have the five days following the end of the 2011 World Series to have exclusive negotiating rights with the man who is widely considered to be the greatest player in the game right now. Following those five days, other money-heavy teams like the Mets, Rangers, Dodgers, Angels, and perhaps a few less wealthy dark horse teams will try to lure Prince Albert away from the Cardinal red. In the meantime, Both Pujols and the Cardinals will have to focus on spring training in Jupiter, Florida, in the home of their A+ minor league affiliate, the Palm Beach Cardinals.

I'm pretty sure we all know that the Giants have a killer team, so let's hear about what the Dodgers have.

And of course, Cubs.

I think I'll vote for the Giants. I'd like to see what they're doing to get to the World Series a second time.

Just so you know, the reason a vote has already been cast for each day is because those are my votes. 55555's and Legolover's have already been added.

Minnesnowta Twins.

Also the Rangers, because they aren't the Angels.

Actually, I'm surprised you didn't pair the Angels with the Twins. California is always trying to taunt us in MN. Guess you probably have to live here to know that though.

Well, the Rangers and Angels are the top dogs in the West, and every White Sox fan hates the Twins--especially Jim Thome, and they don't like how Kenny Williams let him go.

Howdy Folks!

I'm LewaLew, former BZPower RK, former Reporter, and former unofficial baseball blogger. Once, this blog served as the home of my primarily baseball-related musings. Now that I'm in college, I have little time for baseball and BZPower, so it sits here idle except for an occasional visit on my part. Please enjoy or cringe at what you read from my past, and if you'd like, go ahead and comment in the favorite baseball teams entry so that the next time a blue moon rolls around and I visit, I can add you to that content block.

Play Well!

Old Welcome Block

Posted Image

For those of you who don't know (which would mean everyone but Aho-Chan and Sumiki) the BaseBlog is beyond a blog, this is beyond baseball it's a blog that focuses on the great American sport of baseball. The idea of a baseball themed blog has actually been in the works by me ever since Super Bowl XLIV, when Aho-Chan posted a blog entry asking if anyone besides himself didn't care for the Super Bowl, to which I suddenly got the idea of a baseball-themed blog so I could talk about my favorite sport without waiting for someone else to post in the Official Baseball Topic in the Completely Off Topic forum.

Play Ball, folks.
