Sumiki Posted October 28, 2011 R.I.P. LewaLew. Killed by David Freese's 11th-inning home run. ('twas an awesome game, though. Watched all of it, it had everything.) Quote Link to comment
LewaLew Posted October 28, 2011 Yeah, it was, and I would have enjoyed it had it been almost any other team than the Cardinals. (Well, I wouldn't enjoy it if it were the White Sox either) St. Louis is still lucky that Texas didn't make them pay. There were an outrageous amount of errors and walks on both sides, yet they stayed tied up through most of the game. Also SHAME on Joe Buck. He stole that old famous home run call: "We'll see you tomorrow night" That's a classic, make up your own. Texas had better win tonight, though, or Nelson Cruz may become the new Bill Buckner when he not only didn't catch that ball in the ninth, but failed to prevent the tying run from being driven in on that play. Granted, it wasn't as simple as the grounder through Buckner, but still, it's the World Series of all things. If you come that close, twice, to winning the big one, and fail both times, somebody's going to be the goat. Quote Link to comment
Sumiki Posted October 28, 2011 I dislike Joe Buck and Tim McCarver. Buck sounds like he's just bored out of his mind for the entire time and McCarver just points out the blatantly obvious. I can't blame Cruz. That was a shot hit over his head. Besides, he's had a terrific offensive postseason. Quote Link to comment
LewaLew Posted October 28, 2011 Buckner never deserved what he got either. If Texas doesn't win, someone in this game will be the goat of the Texas Rangers. Perhaps the only cool thing about the Cubs' drought is that our goat is actually a goat. Quote Link to comment
Sumiki Posted October 28, 2011 I never understood the Buckner fiasco either. There were so many factors people seem to forget - it was a tied game 6. It remains to be seen who, if anyone, will be the goat of the Rangers. Personally, I'm not sure if there even will be. There doesn't have to be one, especially if there's not a horrific error à la Buckner. Who knows? Texas fans might blame the entire team, or Ron Washington if he makes a stupid managerial move.
